greg775
QUOTE (ROC Sox Fan @ Mar 24, 2015 -> 06:03 AM) I love Q, he absolutely deserves it, but Shark makes sense on the match-ups and Sale coming back plus that extra respect card to get him to re-sign with us. No issue with this at all, I've anticipated this all along when Sale went down. I think he will eat up the "new" KC (FU Rios), not as much as Sale would but Ventura vs. our new line up against Big Game Shields' vs. last years line up doesn't phase me. Sox will be 1-0 at the end of the day. Book it. Don't be so confident. That team is talking about doing in the regular season what it did in the postseason last year. Lead after six innings then bring in those 3 untouchable relievers. Also you still have to contain Hosmer, Moose, Cain and Perez who can put up the 3-4 runs that they need to win most games. Sox need to end the hex vs. KC.
shysocks
Some really good stuff in this post about a call with Hahn and Buddy Bell, but I found the part about the fifth starter the most interesting. "We're still not to the point where we're committed that one of those guys [brad Penny, Scott Carroll, etc.] will have to jump in for Chris," Hahn said. "He's progressing nicely. We've got a pretty specific schedule laid out that frankly we haven't shared publicly, but thus far, he's hit each of the thresholds we've been looking for on any given day. With the off day the first week, we've got the ability to do some things with the rotation that may well mean that ultimately we may not need somebody to jump in for Chris' turn." Sounds like they're somewhat confident Sale will make his timetable and they'll just push Shark into the 4-11 start on normal rest. Either that or they've got a weather control device to force a rainout. 4-6 at KC Samardzija 4-7 4-8 at KC Quintana 4-9 at KC Noesi 4-10 vs Min Danks 4-11 vs Min Samardzija 4-12 vs Min Sale
bmags
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 24, 2015 -> 10:46 AM) Ticket-wise, you are better off having Penny or Danks pitch the home opener. People are gonna go no matter who is pitching, maybe you sell a few extra tickets later if Shark or Sale pitch on a much less desirable day. I don't really care about ticket-wise. You could also say that putting on a show with a great pitcher with a packed house may lead to future ticket sales. edit: i'm just whining because i'm so pumped for 4/10. I know this just reflects our lack of depth after Q. Edited March 25, 2015 by bmags
Whisox05
Ventura makes it official, names Jeff Samardzija White Sox Opening Day starter. April 6 in KC. https://twitter.com/CST_soxvan/status/580863150586605569
cabiness42
I think the symbolism in naming an Opening Day starter is lost when the true Opening Day starter is starting Opening Day on the DL. I'm fine with Jeff getting the nod, especially if it works with the expected date of Sale's return.

The Royals game plan is to win games? I'd never thought a team would plan such a thing... But seriously, don't like Shark being the Opening Day starter since Q deserves it. But I guess you have to work the schedule for when Sale is back.
Harry Chappas
I'd rather Q started the home opener.
flavum
Looks like: Samardzija vs Ventura Quintana vs Duffy Danks vs Volquez Noesi starting the home opener.
