Boopa1219
QUOTE (raBBit @ Mar 25, 2015 -> 09:21 PM) Noooo. Austin will be in A ball. He's a ways off and is nowhere near a lock to make it to the bigs. Totally agree, he's a way off. I do expect that the backup catcher spot will be in a state of flux, no way Soto holds the job down all year.
Boopa1219
QUOTE (Mike F. @ Mar 25, 2015 -> 09:24 PM) I was pretty sure that was the case. But with the way Rodon is pitching today, it seems like he's really comfortable with Austin behind the plate. He did call a good game. Maybe down the line Rodon & Austin can become our Jon Lester & David Ross.

GGajewski18
Beck showing a nice little slider, looks like his fastball is popping too. Good inning from him.
QuickJones81
Ok, help my sanity, I thought it was row-don, these guys are pronouncing it ruh-doan (like shane doan). Have I been wrong all along, or do these guys really know this little about the pitcher the entire league was salivating over for nearly 2 years? LDF
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Mar 26, 2015 -> 02:02 AM) I do not think it will be all that long till he is starting for good in Chicago. and i sure his agent agrees with you.

NorthSideSox72
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Mar 25, 2015 -> 09:40 PM) Beck isn't looking too bad. Just hit 95 on the stadium radar. He's got a sinking FB that can touch 95 as his main pitch, and a very good change up, but the lack of a real breaking pitch is an issue. Though it sure looked like he had a nice slider or cutter there. If that becomes a real pitch, I'll feel a lot better about him. Without it he's Charlie Shirek, maybe a little better. NorthSideSox72
And Beck DID have a good slider in college, which seemed to disappear. So as I said, if he's got a good SL-CT of some kind (or separated) that he can really miss bats with, that dramatically changes my outlook on him. A lot of people loved that pick for the Sox in 2012, he was getting first round hype before the draft but his stock took a hit. With the exception Duane Underwood, the Beck Pick was the best in the second round that year.
