I just bought 2 GRAND worth of playoff tickets.. it BETTER NOT BE OVER! Nothing wrong with me. I am enjoying watching some good baseball and a rare year when it is worth watching in September. Better to go into the playoffs all juiced up then to sit arond and go in flat like '83, '93, and 2000.

I should have had a kid by now but I don't. That's life and you deal with what you are dealt. Why not make the best of what you have and enjoy the little thrills you get every now and then instead of wasting them by being angry at what you can't change? Well, we can't have the cushy lead so why fret about it? I want to see a world series before I am gone too. You can't say for certain it won't happen this year. Play the games and see what happens. I love baseball, and this is the most exciting baseball to watch. The Twins series should be like a playoff series and it is going to be fun to be there for 3 of the 4 games. What does everyone go to an amusement park for, the excitement of a roller coaster, or to sit on one of those things that goes in a circle real slow? Give me the roller coaster. I really think being in a race gives a team an edge too. They go into the playoffs sharp. Look at Atlanta, they coast to the division title every year and then fall in the playoffs. winninguglyin83
Both teams are now 10 games over .500 and playing their best baseball of the season. It's not the greatest race of all time, but it's as good as Sox fans have had since 1967. There have been far too many years when the drama was over by June 15. The best team doesn't always win in october. Last year the Angels won it all as the Wild Card team. I remember 1987 when the Twinkies won it all. Everybody had conceded the playoffs to Detroit -- and then the Twinkies barely won the West and knocked off Detroit and St. Louis. Hell, in 1983 the Sox won 99 games and the division by 20 games and got their asses handed to them by Baltimore. The Yankees and Mariners both look old and vulnerable. Oakland isn't as strong as it once looked without Mulder. Boston is sizzling, but their starting pitching is questionable beyond Pedro. The AL Central winner could easily get to the world series. If they do, nobody will remember how many games they won in the regular season. The next four days should be a treat. Enjoy them.
Guest hotsoxchick1
all im sayin is i dont want the drama, i would rather slide in on this one nice and easy.......a good cushion would have been nice to accomplish that........i dont fair well on roller coasters anymore..... El Barto
I wouldn't mind seeing the sox have a 10 game lead right now but this ride the last couple of months sure beats the last couple years.
Steff
But we have the Drama, we dont have a nice cushion, and it is going to be a roller coster ride. Sometimes we dont get what we want, get over it. Oye geezus.. what's with the hostility for wishing we were where we should have been? I wish we were 20 over and 10 ahead, too. With the addition of Koch and Colon we were all sure we'd be kicking ass this year.. and if you say you weren't, you're FOS. I thought for sure our 3 would all have 15 wins and ERA's in the 2's at this point... didn't you? So I'm a bit peeved. Will I get over is.. sure. Been doing so for a long time now. But it doesn't stop me from being frustrated about it.
FlaSoxxJim
In 2001 and 2002, there was nothing left by this time of the season, except to catch a glimpse of some of the callups in action and to hope for something better next year. The Sox sure did sputter for 3 months, and sure we're only in a race by virtue of geography. But I will take where we are now entering the second week of September 100 times out of 100 times, compared to being out of it by August yet again. the 1977 campaign remains among my fondest childhood memories, even though we were well out of it by this time that year. It would be SOOO great to be the storybook team that wins it all, warts and all (and we have lots of warts as a team for sure). If you can't take a breath and enjoy the possibility that this could still be the year, then you have outgrown the need to be a fan, to root, live and die with YOUR team. I hope I never get that wise or that jaded. It would certainly be a lot easier to be a Yankees fan where you statistically have nearly a 50% chance of a WS ring in any given year. But where's the challenge in that? Go Sox!
