caulfield12
http://www.southsidesox.com/2015/4/24/8488...-of-words-after Samardzija looking like the one who will miss the most games....8-10 is Passan's guess, five each for Ventura and Volquez. Goes back to Jeff's actions (accused of chirping at Colon and Ventura) in the dugout during the game and even last year with Cain and Ventura when he was playing for Oakland. Hosmer with a long set of pretty accountable/self-reflective quotes...
fathom
8-10 for a Samardzija would be way too much. No way should he get more than Herrera from last week.
caulfield12
I bet that was an interesting phone call between Mike and Justin Jirschele (Sox minor leaguer) last night around midnight... Especially after watching his dad get face-palmed when Samardzija missed on Cain.
LittleHurt05
QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 24, 2015 -> 07:44 AM) 8-10 for a Samardzija would be way too much. No way should he get more than Herrera from last week. Even if he gets 8-10, he will appeal it down to 5, and barely miss one start. Score one for the MLBPA! RockRaines
Volquez should be glad he missed that punch. That had broken wrist all over it. You can tell he's never actually hit someone before. This Royals team has shown its pretty classless and other teams are getting sick of it.
flavum
I saw Quintana throw a couple punches. Neither looked they connected, but the rotation might be taking a hit (no pun intended).
WilliamTell
I'm hoping the Sox get a little 2000 in them. I feel those brawls with Detroit in April of 2000 bonded and motivated the team throughout the year. One positive out of this so far is that we know Shark has the backs of his teammates even though we already assumed that. Maybe he misses his football days! GGajewski18
My reaction to the situation: Eaton didn't like the call the ump called, took his time to regroup, Ventura quick pitched him. I would be pissed too as a hitter but I can see why he did it, but even if Eaton did say something, Ventura has no business saying **** you to Eaton given his track record already this season. It's going to be interesting the rest of this series and all year long, because if someone gets hit (especially today), I can see a guy getting thrown out immediately. GoSox05
Ventura has been tossed two starts in a row. The dude obviously has some temper issues. I would bet some of his teammates are getting sick of it. If they haven't yet, they will at some point. What's with the Royals this year? Have they always been like this? Seems like this year they are extra annoying.

flavum
To be fair, Samardzija has been an idiot since opening day. He hit Gordon on purpose that started a big inning, and then he hit Cain too. Apparently he was jawing from the bench last night before the Eaton thing. Hopefully it's over now. Samardzija is getting suspended. It's got to end now. Edited April 24, 2015 by flavum
venom4789
So yost talking about how ventura needs to control his emotions more then says," do you know how many times my mom had to tell me things before i finally heard it, it takes time." Then a reporter fires back with, "Was your mom paying you 23 million dollars though, this is a guy you see as a pillar of your franchise." Yosts only reply was he wished his mom paid him that. Looks like they need to get this kid under control, he just got paid this offseason and his mind set has changed, unless i missed something and he was like that last year too. Samardzija is getting suspended. It's got to end now. Chirping from the dugout shouldn't be a big deal. Pretty much every team does it from time to time. If a hitter gets hit by a pitch there are a lot of guys chirping. If they are listening to the opposition dugout, it will get them eventually. Hitting Cain was the stupid part if it was intentional. I think it's about time to see sox pitchers not taking crap when their hitters are getting hit. The same people who are fretting about the clubhouse fracturing over Robin Ventura need to realize that in the baseball world, this is how you publicly show support for your teammates. Right, wrong, or indifferent, this is how baseball teams stay together. Guys who don't "stand up for their teammates" are the ones who cause fractures in the clubhouse. If people worry about the clubhouse, these actions should show that these guys are there for each other, and on solid ground.
