caulfield12
Rumors all over the place of torn Achilles' tendon. Puts lots of interesting possibilities into play like Cueto, Gio, Zimmermann and Samardzija. Danks or Noesi? Lohse? Gallardo? Garza? Marco Gonzales, but hes injured right now. J.Garcia isnt ready. Could probably use Miller or Kelly about right now. http://www.stltoday.com/sports/columns/ber...2e5d92b7f4.html Lincicome... Cole Hamels, C.Villanueva, Maholm and Aaron Harang are other names to watch. Edited April 26, 2015 by caulfield12

Kyyle23
I think its kind of dumb that Wainwright is using his injury as a reason the pitchers shouldnt hit. It isnt like he broke his hand getting hit by a pitch or anything. What happened to him could have happened fielding a grounder off the mound, he didnt even do anything crazy, he just started running and it tore

Kyyle23
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 27, 2015 -> 09:10 AM) Scherzer complained yesterday about getting hurt while hitting also. I think it will happen regardless, and there is merit to some of the complaints, but I just saw Wainwright as an injury that could have happened at any time. When you watch it, it was such a harmless move. He just planted and started to run, and pop I just dont get people pointing out Wainwright hurting himself and saying "SEE?!?! PITCHERS SHOULDNT HIT" like it was proof of the harm that could happen to you while hitting.

People who say pitchers shouldn't hit after Wainwright's injury are very highly likely saying it anytime the topic of pitchers hitting it brought up. This is just a chance to say it when people are actually listening. I like it better when the averages of the pitchers are brought up.
Quin
I thought when Peavy hurt his ankle on a base that pitchers shouldn't hit.
Dick Allen
Pitchers shouldn't hit because the vast majority of them can't. IMO, if Wainright blew out his achilles running out of the box, he probably would have blown it out doing something else. Get the DH in both leagues. I understand some get incredibly excited about double switches, but the DH is used everywhere except the NL these days.

Back when pitchers actually had some hitting ability, it made more sense. Not anymore.

I'd hate if I were a team and I lost my best pitcher because he was hitting (something that he contributes minimally too in almost all cases). All that said, I am not a fan of the DH but with offense down, it probably would be in the best interest of baseball to add the DH. I do think the DH makes baseball more boring though as it negates a lot of the strategy that comes from double switches, etc.
Harry Chappas
The worst is the AL pitchers that do it one maybe two games a year.
