Kyyle23
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 27, 2015 -> 03:41 PM) I continue to fundamentally disagree with this assessment. thats because you are afraid of every pitcher breaking when a inning limit is reached

Balta1701
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 27, 2015 -> 04:55 PM) GET OUT THE BUBBLE WRAP RICK! SOMEONE GOT HURT ONCE! I wasn't referring to injury, I was referring to the fact that they kept losing games down the stretch because their arms didn't have it in them to finish. If Rodon is solid but a rookie who struggles on occasion for 3 months and then bad and tired for 2 months, that's really not a huge improvement to me. Boopa1219
QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 27, 2015 -> 02:36 PM) What a Marlins move. Dude takes a below market deal to play for his hometown team and they drop him after a slow start to the season. Ouch. Hey, their one of the classiest organizations in the sport. I couldn't even type that with a straight face.
BaconOnAStick
Nobody can reliably know if Rodon will break down after a certain number of innings. I think Balta is a little biased because the Sox were burned badly by that very thing happening a few years ago. I'm a little more open-minded to the idea but I'd just like to see him start a couple games (the upcoming suspensions provide that opportunity) before we go selling Danks. Odds are that when you push him out to 160 IP he will have some dead arm periods. Odds are also pretty high that Rodon plus a month of [insert AAAA pitcher] is better than a full year of John Danks. If you can get someone to take John Danks off of your hands without you having to pay outrageous amounts of his contract, you do it in a heartbeat. Getting rid of Danks contract is addition by subtraction. I would ship him out in a half a heartbeat.

So you are essentially saying that the White Sox would rather lose games than eat John Danks contract. That they really don't think he should be in the rotation but they send him out there every 5th day because they have to pay him a lot of money. If that is true, its pretty damning. Dick Allen
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Apr 27, 2015 -> 03:38 PM) John Danks pitched better yesterday than I've seen him pitch in like two years, and he STILL gave up two bombs. He gave up 1 and that was caught in a jetstream. It should have been a routine flyball to RF. But that is a consequence of giving up flyballs at USCF. OnlyGillis
As discussed on Boston radio ... two years ago no Red Sox pitcher wanted to throw to Salty. Farrell benched him in the World Series after game 3 and they won the last 3 games with David Ross. Salty is a stiff ... and there is no double meaning there despite the fact that he married his high school gym teacher who is 14 years older than him. At the time he was 19.
