caulfield12
http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/orioles...ory.html#page=1 Seems they're already making plans to move the games to Washington/Nationals' Park. Good for the White Sox, then, skip Noesi and a significantly decreased homefield advantage.

I would assume we need to play a DH tomorrow or Wednesday unless there happens to be a day both teams can play

LDF
what gets me, and i am making a point in saying, i am always looking to see the other side of the coin. no one is mentioning on how the teams, Balt and DC is splitting the revenue. flavum
It would seem to me playing in DC tomorrow isn't likely. Maybe they work that out during the day tomorrow and play two on Wednesday in DC--unless things calm down a lot. Hopefully if there's a single game to be made up, they'll do it on July 3rd in Chicago, and they'll be the home team for one of the games. ChiSoxFanMike
This benefits the Sox for a bunch of reasons. 1. Noesi won't pitch 2. Robertson can rest his arm 3. Orioles won't have home field advantage I wish all these riots would've been avoided though. They're destroying their own city for no reason. caulfield12
http://m.mlb.com/news/article/9963194/ Here's an example from a G20 security situation...where the games had to be changed from TOR to Philly. Seems it's up to all of the clubs involved to work out a solution. In that case, it was Philly being the road team in their own park. They definitely have a series of economic calculations to take into consideration (security, vendors, ticket takers, gameday personnel, etc.)

Then you have to decide whether to do a split DH (1 pm and 7 pm) or just starting at 5 or 6 pm and playing two from that point. Wonder about the turnaround for staffing the stadium with less than 24 hours' notice? Probably would go with the second option, because they're not weekend/big revenue-producing games. LDF
i just don't know. i know i have been spouting about this and alot, but baseball is a money maker. i just can't see the owners freely willing to let it be held in another city. look at the sox and the sCrubs, when it was question on playing some games in sox park. that didn't go over well. what will mlb and the money split be. caulfield12
Hasn't this come up before where Cubs and/or White Sox games were played in Milwaukee...or vice-versa, Brewers games at Wrigley or Comiskey? Heck, we had a season or two where we played a limited number of "home games" in Milwaukee before the Brewers came into existence, right? They've done stuff like this before, a series in Miami was played in Chicago like 10 years ago because of a hurricane. It's not a standard procedure but they've done it before. South Side Fireworks Man
Baltimore should just forfeit the games.
BigHurt3515
I am surprised they didn't figure this out tonight. Are they just hoping it gets better tomorrow? If they have a game everyone knows what will happen outside the stadium. It just isn't safe

caulfield12
Now getting word White Sox and O's could play at 1 pm EST Tuesday. They hope to make decision by 9 am EST Tuesday morning, per source. espn.com
South Side Fireworks Man
QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 27, 2015 -> 09:23 PM) If the shoe was on the other foot... If the mayor of Chicago "gave rioters space" to riot and the city couldn't control their own "citizens" then the Sox or the Cubs should forfeit the games. Didn't the Sox have to forfeit the game on Disco Demolition Night?
caulfield12
There's also a political consideration (in terms of the national perception of this situation) because Cummings right now would be the favorite for Barbara Mikulski's Senate seat... This isn't the Orioles fault.
caulfield12
Yes, the White Sox (marketing department) brought that situation down upon their own heads...and couldn't police/control it effectively. Expecting the Camden Yards Andy Frain/rent a cops/security guards to act like the National Guard or even a SWAT unit isn't exactly the same situation.
