chitownsportsfan
Well damn this turned out nice for the Sox. Too bad they couldn't have today count as a "day" for the suspensions. Guess they couldn't get that lucky.
caulfield12
http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/orioles...427-column.html Editorial on the cancellation of the game. Will decide tmrw at 9 am on the status of a possible game at 1 p.m. Other two options are Washington and playing the games back in Chicago. greg775
QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Apr 28, 2015 -> 02:04 AM) Baltimore should just forfeit the games. That's actually a damn good take. This is life, not sports. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 28, 2015 -> 02:10 AM) I am surprised they didn't figure this out tonight. Are they just hoping it gets better tomorrow? If they have a game everyone knows what will happen outside the stadium. It just isn't safe You know what? There will be buildings still burning and smoldering at 1 pm. Tuesday. There should be no baseball. I'll be very disappointed in MLB if there is baseball in Baltimore Tuesday. I know you don't want the thugs to win, but folks this is dangerous s***. I think the White Sox should refuse to play as well as the O's out of concern for their lives. Seriously. Anybody watching TV late at night can see this is out of control just 10 hours from a ballgame? Cancel the game, commish. I mean in this state of civil unrest, gangs could charge the stadium and get in. They could do anything at this point. How is this even being considered?? (playing games at this time). caulfield12
http://m.orioles.mlb.com/news/article/1209...ioles-white-sox The civil unrest that persisted after the funeral of Freddie Gray on Monday altered his plans somewhat. Manfred did get a chance to address both teams, but that was about it. When the game was postponed due to safety concerns, he headed back to New York without getting an opportunity to see the game. "I didn't get an opportunity to meet with Mr. [Peter] Angelos today," Manfred said. "I did talk to the players in both clubhouses. I was glad to have that chance. Mr. Angelos and I had some topics we were going to discuss, and we'll discuss those later. We've already made arrangements to do that." http://m.orioles.mlb.com/news/article/1208...-from-the-heart
cabiness42
Whether the games get moved up to 4pm or moved to Washington, today's and tomorrow's games need to be played. Both teams will be at a serious disadvantage having to make up an entire series later in the season.
caulfield12
http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/orioles...0427-story.html As of this exact moment, they're apparently planning to play at either 1 p.m. or 4 p.m. (in advance of city-wide curfew commencing at 10 pm). Chicago White Sox
Dumb question, but if yesterday's game is made up as part of a double-header today or tomorrow, is there any way for the Sox to game the system and keep Shark and/or Sale on their regular schedules? With the situation still so unstable in Baltimore, they'll be lucky to get in two games. I doubt they're even thinking about trying to get in the third one. flavum
https://twitter.com/CSNHayes/status/593043691436187648 Seems like it's an easy decision--get the hell out of town, play 2 in DC tomorrow, and make up the third game in Chicago. shipps
I am curious as to how the Orioles start long term planning for themselves. If Baltimore becomes the heart of this movement as did Ferguson and there is going to be long term unrest in that city how do they play at home for the coming months?
