caulfield12
HaloFanFromReno 2 minutes ago I am not a fan of any teams involved with these "postponments", however it is not fair to the opposing teams to have to use up resources due to losing a travel day or playing an unscheduled DH - this isn't a rainout or earthquake. These games could be played on a neutral field or the home field of the Orioles opponent. It is not fair to the rest of MLB teams to weaken an Orioles opponent because they had to use up a day off or pitchers which would domino effect these opponents' later games. Example: White Sox lose a travel day and use-up bullpen at a later date due to this - the White Sox then play the A's when the White Sox bull pen is used up and the A's win due to this. The other American League West division teams may lose a playoff spot by 1 game because the A's got an easy game against the White Sox! Texsox
QUOTE (3GamesToLove @ Apr 28, 2015 -> 10:22 AM) It's very difficult to just move a game to an alternate site on short notice. There are staffing issues and ticketing problems. It might seem the perfect solution, but there are hoops to jump through. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 28, 2015 -> 10:23 AM) They've had ample time since 5pm yesterday, in my opinion. Just thinking about tickets. If you have tickets for Section 201 Row D Seats 15 and 16 and those seats do not exist in the other park, or are substantially different, where do people sit? Do you exchange tickets at the gate? How long would that process take? It seems like it would take more than a day for logistics. Parking, etc etc.

It wasn't that long ago where people had to go to the box office to get tickets.
Swingandalongonetoleft
QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 28, 2015 -> 09:54 AM) All they had to do yesterday is say "We're not playing this series in Baltimore this week. There will be a doubleheader in Washington DC on Wednesday (which gives them almost 48 hours to get ready), and the third game will be made up in Chicago on July 3, with Game 1 having the Orioles as the home team." That would have been sensible. I think the O's forfeiting ought to be in the discussion if they can't come to a sensible solution by the time the series is scheduled to end. Any make-up games the Sox already have on their plate should be considered in this solution. Flying around the country on off days to play doubleheaders is s***. ILMOU
QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 28, 2015 -> 09:34 AM) If they can't find a way to play two games tomorrow, they dragged their feet too long. There have been games rained out the day before a scheduled off day, where you lose the off day. Not that much different if they changed venues. asindc
i don't think the O's-Nats dispute is an obstacle at this point. Logistically, what could work in MLB's favor is that many of the companies providing concessions services at Camden also do so at Nats Park and the Verizon Center. With the Nats on the road and the Wiz and Caps having wrapped up their 1st round series, it might be easier to mobilize a skeleton crew. ILMOU
QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 28, 2015 -> 09:51 AM) This is gonna screw us later on in the season. We're gonna be playing double headers on our off-days. glangon
Looking at both teams schedules May 28th is the only date I can see that would make sense as a make up date, I struggle to find 2 that are sensible. The O's are in the middle of a homestand and we leave Toronto on 27th May

Harry Chappas
This situation is really not that hard, treat it as a natural disaster. Both teams should have been on a plane last evening and in Chicago to play a night game tonight and double header tomorrow. If the Orioles do not have insurance for this type of thing shame on them. If all three games are a wash the White Sox better b**** and moan to high heaven.
