Condor13
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 29, 2015 -> 03:26 PM) He is also in AAA. You know AAA stats don't translate to MLB? Just because he is hitting over .240 in AAA doesn't mean he will be in the MLB, it would probably be much less. It will still be better then .196 0 hr 4 rbi
The Ginger Kid
WAY too early to make big decisions about samardzija. I think everyone knows he can pitch better than this.

Condor13
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 29, 2015 -> 03:25 PM) You're right, the offense could use a few more strikeouts. Didn't Conor drive in the go ahead run the last game the Sox played? I would take chris carter and his 200+ strikeouts a year in a heartbeat right now. Taking a guy that struggles to hit in AAA and putting him in to face much better pitchers has rarely yielded positive results.
Dick Allen
The Sox have 5 guys in their line up currently hitting less than .210. Hard to get to 8 .

Eminor3rd
I don't see much of any reason to believe that Davidson has become ML ready. He's hitting a little better, overall, but it's much of the same as last year -- plenty of power but not nearly enough to make up for way too many strikeouts. Sure, those numbers applied directly would be better than Conor right now, but they're going to get worse against better competition.
Eminor3rd
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 29, 2015 -> 01:33 PM) Obviously, but is he really a 9 figure pitcher? Ultimately, I think he probably he is, but he sure as hell pitched like s*** today and it didn't even look like he was trying, so I'm angry at him and so f*** him today. flavum
Glad they didn't convince him to sign in spring training. Hope they don't sign him in the future. Don't get me wrong, he could end up having a decent season, but as far as giving him 5 or 6 years, nah, forget that.

I think the going rate for pitchers like him is right around 9 figures, but then I significantly overestimated Shields's contract last offseason. Balta1701
QUOTE (LDF @ Apr 29, 2015 -> 03:40 PM) i really think, i overrated Shark this yr. I think this is the pitcher he's always been, a #3/#2 guy, who doesn't have an ace repertoire but who will get himself into a groove for 10+ starts at some point this season. greg775
The bad Sox showed up again today. This looks a lot of the same to me, folks. Pretty much identical team to last year except our bullpen is a lot better and we might not blow as many games when we're acutally leading late. But he did have a good day today, so...hooray? Some here said Javy Baez's k rate as a 21 year old in AAA would keep him from becoming anything but a bust. Guess what 24 year old has a higher K rate?
