Its time for him to start batting 8th or 9th. If the middle order guys are starting to get it he cant be down there doing this, when he heats up bring him back but for now its brutal.

He just has to stop pulling the ball like that in double play situations. Does he not realize the game plan the opposing pitcher has in that situation?

Really would have been nice if they could have cashed him in this offseason

I mean he tends to improve when it warms up, right? I'm not ready to pour dirt on him yet, but when he plays badly he is the most frustrating player to watch, no exceptions.

Alexei came into this game with -0.75 WPA. The worst WPA in all of 2014 was Jackie Bradley, Jr with -4.0 in nearly 130 games.

Alexei has been a rally serial killer.

But..... But... He's so valuable.......

Something that makes the offensive struggles even worse is that a majority of the runs the sox have scored lately were thanks in part to an error by the opposition or misplay (last night's big inning doesn't happen if Eaton's liner is caught)

Another first pitch out by Alexei. He has no game plan at the plate at all. That was the one place you couldn't hit the ball there.

The one place ? To the SS or back to the pitcher would've been easy DP's too ? Regardless it wasn't the fly ball we needed .

That could have really deflated Detroit. Error would have been huge to open the inning.

You hit to the big part of the field. I joked that a 5-4-3 TP was coming up, as we've seen him hit that same ball so often this year.

Yep, we only score if the other team gifts us the runs.

Almost no "clutch" hitting . Avi and Melky last night being the exception. We always seem to be stranding 2 guys.

Seems like very few extra base hits with guys on base (Melky homer last night excluded). Not just homers, but especially doubles.
