BlackSox13
Levine is a complete dung beetle. Give him a s***s worth of info and he rolls with it. But, Levine is really not the problem here, he's just the messenger reporting what he hears. The real problem is the people in the FO with big f***ing mouths leaking stuff that really should be handled internally. Thanks to this leak, I have even less confidence in the FO to make things right in 2015. If I were Robin, I'd walk away from this mess and enjoy retirement. Soxfest
QUOTE (Jerksticks @ May 9, 2015 -> 01:05 AM) f*** you Levine. Way to go buddy. You get the gold star for CHOOSING to report this, choosing to add strain to an already stressful start to the season. This does nothing positive for the 2015 White Sox. Seriously, the real question is who told him this? Seems like it would be a pretty short list privy to this conversation. Why would you tell a media loser like Levine this information if your goal is a 2015 White Sox championship? This is akin to treason. Bruce loves to write negative articles on the Sox, he is so anti Sox and pro Cubs on everything. That being said it is time KW is shown the door, upper management skills cough cough. I cannot see RV here beyond 2015 at this point. Edited May 9, 2015 by Soxfest

LDF
a. i really don't think it was a leak but a interview. b. i believe it was intended to show confidence and support, c. oh i can't wait until that crap hit the mlb trade rumors site, then the rest of the baseball world will know how much of a dysfunctional management the sox have. d. eddie einhorn (sp) one of the other owners used to be the face and person for the sox owners, that was until he screwed up. then JR took over. i really believe that this was a planned interview, it is time the owners get a new face and give that person the power of the org. pretty much as they did before with JR. maybe one of the owners kids, could step up. last, i guess if RV is ok with being the sox owners lapdog, i guess it is KW and Hahn job to make sure he is paper train. caulfield12
"Mostly, we just want to give the other teams chances," a smiling Williams told MLB.com before Thursday's 4-1 loss to the Tigers. "We figure, let them out of the gate and we'll make a dramatic comeback from a slow start. It's by design.... I said early on that it's a team that's built for the long haul, and that I wouldn't get too concerned with a slow start because of that fact," Williams said. "Where you can get concerned at a slow start such as this and the way that we've gone about it is if you don't have the talent to overcome it. "So, the encouraging things are that the bullpen through it all has shown itself to be one that will be formidable throughout the course of the season and once we get the other things on track. I'll throw in a little bit of smart baseball to go with it. We've got to stop trying to force the issue on some things. I think we'll be fine." http://m.mlb.com/news/article/122960958/ke...t-for-long-haul

CWSpalehoseCWS
QUOTE (LDF @ May 9, 2015 -> 10:41 AM) so this was may 7 interview, am i really reading this comment in the bold right??? i will stop here and see if this bothers anyone else. I think that comment is taken out of context. After re-reading it a few times, I think Williams is referring to the general perception of the fans, as in they don't think the team has the talent to overcome the slow start. That's why the reactions are negative. I highly doubt the organization would actually admit that the talent on the team is subpar and unable to overcome the hole they've dug themselves into. It definitely threw the first time I read that though, haha.
BlackSox13
That line by KW does read weird, read it a few times myself to make sure I understood where he's coming from. The way I read it, KW is saying there would be cause for concern if the Sox did not have the talent to overcome this slow start but they do have the talent so there's nothing to be concerned about. I think I'm interpreting that line correctly?
chitownsportsfan
Just sloppy leadership all around. KW needs to keep his mouth shut and let Hahn be the public voice of management. All I see KW doing here is meddling and running his mouth. It's not a good look.

Jerksticks
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ May 9, 2015 -> 06:04 AM) No offense, but we need MORE Chicago reporters to come out with stories like these. I'm not a Levine fan, but I'm glad he reported this. Reporting this with such a negative spin is pure ego intended to cause dissent among the ranks of the White Sox. No offense but that's a horrible thing to do to human beings. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ May 9, 2015 -> 08:45 AM) Umm unless it was all off the record, this is Bruce Levine's job. What exactly do you think reporters do? If you just want them to be shills for the team go follow KC Johnson I'm more upset that the FO would give this terd a nugget like this to spin. You know he's a terd who'll do terd things to stab you in the back at the slightest opportunity.

chitownsportsfan
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 9, 2015 -> 04:08 PM) They just dug themselves a bigger hole dignifying Levine's initial "be more hands on" with further clarification. It's obvious that there's dissent in the ranks. JR has cultivated a cult of personality and it extends to many of the reporters that follow the Sox and Bulls, like Merkin, and KC Johnson. That Levine was able to get this story speaks volumes imo about the situation in the Sox' FO. It doesn't not seem like a unified front. I think that KW is already trying to spin this season how he wants it. His comment about not having enough talent was crazy. Why would you say that? Even if you think you sure as s*** don't say it. He's already giving excuses not to move on from RV.

You keep pushing this money angle and quite frankly it's a ridiculous accusation. The organziation's goal is to win championships, plain and simple. However, they have to operate within a budget like most other teams. You seem unable to differentiate the idea of spending within your means with simply not caring. LDF
then to my org statement, the sox should have left it alone. they are trying too hard to build support and to justify their reasoning's. maybe it is their attempt to fix their perception of accountability issues. i am just wondering

You seem unable to differentiate the idea of spending within your means with simply not caring. you are wrong, this group of owners are not doing this for free. they want a profit, i can and see the reason for profit, if they put money into the fielding the team on the field. but only going so far and then blame the fans, claiming they can't afford putting more money into the team. this is $$ Bill sop, put enuf to field a team and do great pr. the fans will come. however, the sox fans are smarter. plus with another baseball club in the city, the competition just got tougher. the sox have been making, according to forbe's over 200 mil a yr since 2012. what has the total salary of the team has been in those yrs??? how much profit do the owners want to budget themselves?? and i am just writing on the known profits that forbe's write about. i am not talking about all the sub companies they owned so they can a. claim it as a. taxes, b. sell to other vendors thru that company and c. make additional profit. so in retrospect are you satisfied with the way the owners are performing, up to this day? KW, more and more, is perceived as a one hit wonder.
SCCWS
I see this "message" as a sign to the fans that Robin has been warned. My gut says Robin is here for the season but if improvement doesn't happen, he is gone. Management will then say that we asked RV to be more hands-on, it didn't help so we have no choice but to make a change.

caulfield12
I think Hahn gets one more year...he can blame Ventura, that KW and JR gave him the wrong manager to maximize the team/talent he put out on the field. Don't forget Buddy Bell! There's also the fact they wont want to hire outside the org for a new GM, and our current assistant GM is way too inexperienced to consider yet.
