Noesi is in the bullpen. I think the White Sox have answered the question.

I agree with you there. When he came on last night it seemed pretty clear. Some guys just can't work out of the pen and it was always a lot to ask a 22 year old kid that has never relieved to suddenly start pitching high leverage innings in MLB.

Just start him. If he runs out of innings in August who cares. Put the best team on the field until then and see what happens.

Sox are 12-17

Danks has sucked outside of his last start, which was impressive.

Noesi continuously fudges his already soiled Huggies.

Rodon had an impressive debut Saturday.

So thow does sending Rodon to Charlotte help the Sox or Rodon?

Another question is what kind of message does that send to Rodon?

Noesi has lost his job and deservingly so. The Rodon era has begun so let's just try and enjoy.:)

i like it and agree, plus he will get hands on with coop, and the other sp's. it is a win/win situation.

Good point, I forgot about the added benefit of working closely with Cooper. Rodon and Cooper seemed to work well together in ST plus, as you said, spending the time with veterans could help too.

plus, Rodon mention earlier, that Sale was forthcoming in teaching his something, i can't remember what it was. Sale can add to that development.

Maybe or maybe not. They said Noesi would be available in the pen because he only pitched 1.2 innings and Carroll and Jennings needed at least another day off. We will see.

This is pretty simple really. Leave him in the minors in his starting role until he is ready to pitch all season in the majors. This team is going nowhere. Let him develop then next season when we have a whole new core of key players after the firesale we'll have a good 3 of Sale, Q and Rodon.

He's in the rotation now....after the dust settled, the Sox made what seems to be the smart choice. I'd much rather he take his lumps at the MLB level learning how to get big league hitters out instead of dominate AAA hitters based on his stuff. I'm sure they'll skip some rotation turns for him going forward.

Well there's the answer. I wonder if they intend to have him skip a bunch of starts throughout the season, put him in the bullpen at the end of the year, or just shut him down. I suppose it will depend on if the team manages to get back in the race.

That would literally make no sense whatsoever.

Why would the Sox stunt his development by doing that?

Because he's likely to be pushing up against whatever innings limit they have on him by then. That said, at least there won't be a major worry of whether or not he can handle playoff innings.

A playoff run is the only situation where I can see them putting Rodon back in the bullpen. Even then, I'd rather have him start and go over his innings limit than go back to the 'pen.

Sure then ruin his career and any usefulness he may have for the team for the next 6 years. What's more important this year's playoff run or 6 years of him pitching for the Sox. It will be a significant injury risk.

Edit: not to mention he will probably be fatigued and nearly ineffective by that time.

So 10, maybe 20 innings more than he's supposed to pitch will ruin his career? I don't buy that for a second.

There's a huge difference (partially due to his delivery, which is far from smooth) between 180-210 and 140-160.

It seems they're already trying to limit slider usage when that's his best pitch...in order to avoid him becoming the next Francisco Liriano (and interestingly, that 2006 Twins' 3-4 month run is exactly what we need right now).

How exactly are they trying to do that?

He's been a 2 pitch pitcher since coming up - fastball slider. So far 1/3 of the pitches he's thrown in the big leagues have been sliders. He's thrown a total of 3 pitches that pitch FX didn't think were fastballs or sliders and conveniently they match the slider velocity, so I literally don't know if he's thrown a single changeup.

According to pitch F/X, he's actually thrown more sliders this season than Chris Sale.

Seriously, so tired of this being said over and over. Dude is a pitcher. Dude will pitch. 10-20 innings is not going to destroy his arm. If it did, he shouldn't have been a pitcher in the first place.

Exactly. Rodon has probably been pitching since he was a young kid. He has to have built up enough stamina at this point where he could go 200 innings this year if he had to.

There's a difference between not wanting him to over his innings limit and saying he physically CAN'T go over his innings limit, because that simply isn't true.

The first two times out as a reliever.
