Little known fact: The franchise was first known as the Sioux City Cornhuskers in 1893.

Finally, how can the White Sox, after winning five in a row on the road, and having Kluber AND Sale on the mound, only draw 17,712 fans?

What was wrong with the weather? Blackhawks again?

That's actually not too bad a crowd for Monday night in May, right? About 20,000 every night cept Thursday, Friday, Saturday? Sox need to make hay on those nights until they convince the fans they are a legit contender. They are playing like a contender for sure, but after that gosh-awful, pathetic start it will take a while for the non-crazed fan to believe that this is nothing more than one winning streak in a long season.

crowd looked ok on tv but it was only 17k announced? Can't really spin that but hopefully they keep winning and the weather keeps warming and the park fills.
tickets are bought way in advance of the game. how would anyone predicted the sox would finally come around.

Um, because it's the White Sox, what did you expect?

The problem with this is that these comeback streaks are typically unsustainable. I'll feel a lot better when we start getting leads early.

Offense has certainly been better at getting leads early than before.

Lack of power is the main concern for me still. It's just so hard for them to score runs because everything is a ground ball single.

That said, comeback streaks may not be unsustainable. Seemed like the Royals had 2 huge ones that basically pushed them into the WC. I'm pretty sure this time last year the White Sox were ahead of the Royals in the standings.

If we're still in the thick of it come July the Sox will trade spare parts for Aramis Ramirez a la Youkilis 2012.

Issue is Aramis Ramirez is a platoon player right now. He has a .125 average against lefties. I would hope that the sox would upgrade catching more.

That's being judged based on 17 PA. Last season he hit .327 with a 1.024 OPS against lefties. (Hell that actually would make him a tolerable platoon partner with Gillaspie and LaRoche).

Why waste a spot on a guy who only has one position and takes away from the versatility of the bench. Plus he's owed 14 million so say at the deadline that's still 7 million for a 37 yr old player.

Because he would be an improvement on a daily basis?

His power has taken a hit as he's aged but he's well above league average as a hitter and is much better at defense. Plus, he can insulate against a potential liability in LaRoche against LHP.

Unless he is replacing gillaspie as the everyday third baseman and taking gillaspie spot on roster, the sox won't be dumb enough to do a version of the roster last year putting another konerko on the bench to occasionally hit.

The trade deadline is after 4 months of a 6 month season. The amount owed would be closer to $4.5 million.
