Interesting quotes from Ventura, Noesi

“I don’t know what the purpose is,” White Sox manager Robin Ventura said of Ramirez’s spin. “(Hector is) out of the inning if we end up playing clean."

But there’s no question that a White Sox defense that ranks 29th among 30 teams with minus-24 Defensive Runs Saved had its fingerprints all over the inning. Ramirez, who ranks 20th of 29 shortstops in Defensive Runs Saved, also settled for one out in the eighth inning when he dropped a Tailor-Made double play and Smoak made it count with a two-out, RBI single off Scott Carroll.

“I was happy (with the grounders),” Noesi said. “We could have made a double play and then the bases should be cleared by the next hitter.”

“(The double play) should be turned,” Ventura said. “It wasn’t. It ends up hurting you. After that, Hector battled and got through it. But the only thing really good about the game was it was fast. That was it. We weren’t very good offensively. We weren’t good defensively in that situation, and you’re going to end up losing the game.

Have to feel a bit sorry for Noesi...he has been largely abandoned by the defense, and has also been the victim of at least four of his inherited runners scoring when Rodon entered with no bullpen experience as well.

We score zero runs. Doesn't matter how great we do in the field. Let's start worry about actually hitting the ball. Feels like everyone is mentioning the defense when the offense has been just as bad if not worst. You can't win games when you consistently score 0-3 runs every game.

I guess that was a joke about the game being fast. Everything the guys say and do this season is that of a team that knows it is horses***. I'm surprised Robin didn't add another good thing was the team was able to go watch the Blackhawks game since the shutout was so fast.

“If you’re not going to score, it becomes very thin. Right now the offense isn’t clicking at all. You’re not being able to put anything in the outfield. Most of your hits are in the infield. They know it, and it’s got to change or you’re going to lose games.”

Not sure there's a solution there.

At any rate, there's a huge difference between just giving up a run or two in the early innings and the seemingly insurmountable five runs it turned out to be. Psychologically, if you're already feeling "here we go yet again" it's much harder for the offense to get back into the game. We have come back from 3-4 runs down this season, but never 5. Not to mention playing in the eastern version of Oakland's Little Shop of Horrors...Toronto, where we just never seem to play well historically.

Have never been a good artificial turf team, and that always was exposed in Toronto, Seattle, Minnesota, KC and TB.

Lets see his ass sit today. Ventura needs to put his foot down show bad play wont be tolarated. Not that lexi is really making a difference anyways.

I'd sit him for the road trip. Not like we'd miss his bat.

Which is why we need try something to get it going. Shuffle the lineup a bit, moving Melky down to 6th and the 3B platoon up to 2nd. Bench LaRoche against LHP or at least move him well down the order.

I would also like to see Kotteras called up and given some playing time at catcher. I'm guessing that he's beyond terrible defensively, but we can't keep starting Flowers on most days when our offense is struggling to score a run. There's nothing to lose at this point, so you might as well see what you have in Kotteras.

This team has very little discipline. That won't change until there is a new manager at the helm. Also, the offense is pathetic! Looks like we will be sellers once again.

They don't have much to sell though. Samardzija and Ramirez is about it.

Who on earth would give up anything of value for Ramirez.

Sox blew their chance to sell high on him last year. What were the rumors again? Alexei to St. Louis for Matt Adams? Or was it Kolten Wong?

I'd like us to try and break out of this by using our utility guys and try and manufacture runs and use the speed that we have. (not drugs)

With Avi looking as if he might hit the DL and everyone else struggling, I'd go for a new approach and look for the Could Go Sox 2015.

Line Up

Eaton L - CF

Sanchez S - SS

Abreu R - 1B

Gillaspie L - DH

Cabrera S LF

Soto R - C

Shuck L - RF

Bonafacio S - 2B

Beckham R - 3B

Bench

T-Flo - R

La Roche - L

Alexei - R

You have some speed and the ability to to eek out bunts and infield hits for Eatonb and Sanchez. Sanchez's defence at SS can't be any worse than Lexi's has.

You have Abreu, Gillaspie and Cabrera, whose job is to simply get on base and move the runners over.

You have Shuck whose job is not to strike out and then you would have Shuck, Boney and Beckham who could all use their speed and ability to get base hits whilst sitting the three coldest bats in baseball.

You could bring on La Roche as a Pinch Hitter or Lexi as a pinch runner.

Its not ideal but without calling anyone up, it can't be any worse than the rot we're watching just now.

Whole team sucks

haha .... you may be right, esp with the current stats. i keep thinking on how many were hype on this team before the start of the season.

i will admit that i was one and i was one who wanted to give RV the benefit, however i have seen the light.

the team, is still IMO has a collection of good players.

it is said that that team had to come to the forefront to stand behind the coach, when it is their job to concertate on the game to game and not about the politics of the team. that in itself is, for me a sure sign of how mych this org has been in a fvvckup state. unless i am the only one seeing that?

the pitching, there is a black hole that was never address in the offseason.

lastly, was i really outta of my mind in thinking this team was going to be good???

The problem is that they have too many terrible players. If Beckham, Bonifacio, Sanchez, and Soto/Flowers are in the same lineup, I just don't really expect any success. Then add JB Shuck to it and it's even worse. I just vomited.

I don't see what is interesting about those quotes. This team is playing like s*** and they acknowledged it.

if they acknowledge it with any inner fire or without getting pissed, then there is something dysfunctional happen.
