glangon
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 28, 2015 -> 03:17 PM) That means a roster move is needed to make room for Chris Beck starting game 2. Avi to DL? Conor to DL? Carroll to AAA? Avi to the DL would be the logical move. Although it could be Conor as he is also not in today's lineup and hasn't been for the Toronto Series either. Rodon has options, so it could be that Rodon is optioned to AAA and then recalled once Beck is optioned back to AAA. Or we could be DFA'ing away Noesi or trading Danks. I don't think that's allowed, unless somebody gets "injured" between then and now

Thank the old Steinbrenner Yankees for that one.

Dick Allen
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ May 28, 2015 -> 10:00 AM) Yeah either Connor or Avi or Noesi dfa Why in the world would the Sox DFA Noesi. Yes, he started out bad after not pitching for a while last game when his defense screwed him. But his last 4 or 5 innings, he pretty much gave up nothing. bjm676
I'm not sure of the rules for this, but is it possible Webb is up for first game, Beck in the second game?

No. One player for the second game.
Whisox05
On mlb at bat it still shows that Chris beck is still listed as game 2 starter. This is confusing
elrockinMT
Why would you DFA someone when it's only a one game special? The only way I see that happening is if the Sox are committed to bringing up Beck for the rest of the season
Dick Allen
What I don't understand is I thought Beck was the 26th guy. Why wouldn't they just call Webb up and make a corresponding move instead of calling him the 26th guy as well? Is it still certain Beck is starting game 2? I just read the rule. Since this has been scheduled for more than 48 hours, the 26th guy is eligible to participate in both games, so it makes sense Webb would be the 26th guy and Beck just a regular call up. Y2Jimmy0
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 28, 2015 -> 10:11 AM) What I don't understand is I thought Beck was the 26th guy. Why wouldn't they just call Webb up and make a corresponding move instead of calling him the 26th guy as well? Is it still certain Beck is starting game 2? My guess is that they will be short-handed in game 1. Start Beck in game 2. Then send Beck and Webb to Charlotte and call up a position player to replace whichever guy goes on the DL. Whisox05
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ May 28, 2015 -> 10:22 AM) My guess is that they will be short-handed in game 1. Start Beck in game 2. Then send Beck and Webb to Charlotte and call up a position player to replace whichever guy goes on the DL. The issues is that beck isn't on the 25 man roster right now. Someone has to moved to put him on roster to start game

southsider2k5
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ May 28, 2015 -> 10:22 AM) My guess is that they will be short-handed in game 1. Start Beck in game 2. Then send Beck and Webb to Charlotte and call up a position player to replace whichever guy goes on the DL. This makes a lot of sense. Speculation then turns to a bench specialist in Garcia, the temporary return of Micah Johnson, or a short stint for Davidson or Trayce Thompson, depending on who goes to DL... if that is what happens. Whisox05
Chris Beck is still starting Game 2 of the doubleheader, which means a spot will have to be cleared on the 25-man roster. #WhiteSox https://twitter.com/CSNHayes/status/603946453363482624 Conor Gillaspie will start Game 2 of the doubleheader. Avisail Garcia sounds doubtful today but he is improving. https://twitter.com/CSNHayes/status/603946598272540672 So guessing no dl for avi or conor. ChiSoxFanMike
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ May 28, 2015 -> 10:40 AM) If Leury Garcia gets called up I riot. That wouldn't make any sense anyway. They already have Beckham, Sanchez, and Bonifacio to cover the infield, and Shuck to cover the outfield. Johnson or Thompson would be much more likely to be called up instead of Leury.
