harkness99
such a potent offensive team... Abreu 1-8 in the series... this offense often goes as he goes.
iamshack
QUOTE (fathom @ May 28, 2015 -> 04:13 PM) This team just makes way too many dumb decisions. That's on the players, not the coaches. I guess we just must target dumb players, because it happens again and again no matter how much roster turnover we have.
greg775
It's time to make Gordon Beckham the starting second baseman. Case closed. Sox can't afford to have zero chance of a hit out of its second basemen! This should be a NO BRAINER!
South Side Fireworks Man
QUOTE (greg775 @ May 28, 2015 -> 09:07 PM) It's time to make Gordon Beckham the starting second baseman. Case closed. Sox can't afford to have zero chance of a hit out of its second basemen! This should be a NO BRAINER! Been there, done that. I like Gordon as a utility infielder. He's been doing well in that role - keep him in it.
caulfield12
QUOTE (greg775 @ May 28, 2015 -> 08:07 PM) It's time to make Gordon Beckham the starting second baseman. Case closed. Sox can't afford to have zero chance of a hit out of its second basemen! This should be a NO BRAINER! I think we tried that already for five seasons. If that time has proven one thing, it's that whenever we start to have confidence in him FINALLY figuring things out, it will always take a corresponding turn for the worse and you'll wonder why you were willing to give him the benefit of the doubt for like the 6th, 7th or 8th time. Then we'll have a thread about why are we wasting valuable at-bats playing a journeyman 2B when we need to be preparing an everyday player for 2016-2019. greg775
Guys, we cannot play a second baseman incapable of hitting the damn ball. It's a joke, really. Beckham at least is a fricking big league hitter and is not a sieve with the glove. Play him! This is a last place team, at least play a major leaguer at 2B. Beckham has to play 3B because they don't have anyone there either. Sanchez is fine for now. No offensive production out of 2B is definitely not what is killing this team. It's an embarrassment to have to play somebody at a position incapable of getting a hit. True, Gillaspie is lousy, but at least he proved last year he could get a hit every four at bats or so. If we settle into Gillaspie/Boni, Lexi, Beckham, Abreu, at least on paper that's an average to slightly below average foursome. Put Sanchez in there and it's abysmal. If it doesn't then Micah Johnson would be up.
