LDF
QUOTE (harkness @ May 31, 2015 -> 01:28 AM) I'm not sure that might idea of Beckham at 2nd is the best... at least could try it for a few games with Sanchez on the bench. What is there to lose? and that fall to the manager RV, who makes up the lineup. if this is causing this much heartburn, can you imagine, and this if from memory of some wanting to trade Aelxei and play Saladino. jeeze. Balta1701
QUOTE (harkness @ May 30, 2015 -> 08:23 PM) I have read other threads thinking Sanchez isn't ready because of his hitting... this is far from the first time this has been brought up. If you are really considering the kids future - I'm not sure allowing him to continue to bat .150 for the next few weeks is good for his future. Big difference about Sanchez from Johnson - Carlos has been at Charlotte long enough that I can't make a case that he'll have anything left there to learn. Either he's going to learn how to hit big league pitching or he won't. The only place he's going to do that is against big league pitching. The ideal times for him to do that are with rebuilding teams, or with teams already out of the race, or with teams that are so loaded at every other position they can just cover for that one weakness, because he might well need a few months or longer to struggle before figuring things out. That's the problem with relying on rookies and then having 4 other holes in your lineup, the time it takes the rookie to adjust to the big jump in opposing talent is time you don't have. Either another example of poor roster planning or another example of failing to get a guy ready as fast as the team needed him to. (taht applies to both 2b). SCCWS
My question is who watched Johnson in spring training and decided he was ready. Then after 6 weeks decided he was not ready defensively and had him sent down. Next called up Sanchez to replace him while he was struggling offensively in AAA for the 3 weeks before he was recalled. Somebody in this organization seems to be having a hard time judging skills needed to play in the ML. It is one thing giving a young player a chance. But Johnson and Sanchez are not close to being ML ready and hopefully their confidence is not lost with this fiasco.

Also, I kept reading how some thought middle infield was a position of strength for the organization when in fact it's yet another hole. When it comes to position players, this organization does not do well at identifying or developing talent.
BlackSox13
The Sox are last in the AL in runs scored and faced a pitcher that leads the AL in ERA. The results today are not surprising one bit. Defensively the Sox are better off with Beckham at 3B and Sanchez at 2B but offensively the lineup is better with Gillaspie and Beckham. Which to choose? The lack of options really make this debatable.

greg775
As far as the title of this thread ... YES! In this season of whiffle ball bats being used by the White Sox, start Beckham every day at second and like you said, deal with Gillaspie/Boni at third. BlackSox13
Nice touch with the "whiffle ball bats". One option could be to play Beckham at second with Davidson at third to get some more pop in the lineup against left handed starters. Surprisingly enough Davidson only has one error on the season in 45 games at third. Not sure if that's due to a limited range but at least his throws are accurate. I'm not sure what I would do against right handed starters.
kitekrazy
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 30, 2015 -> 06:52 PM) So the White Sox didn't score vs.a pitcher with an ERA under 2.00, without Abreu in the line up, and more panic sets in. Now scoring zero is Sanchez's fault. LMAO Glad someone pointed this out. It's not like losing to Bruce Chen.

LDF
if he is hitting an avg of 216 and lets say he moves up, he will drop in avg even more. i wanted him to do better this yr and i have refrain from criticizing him. but ........ oh well. we can see all the writing. The guy is a striekout machine. The idea is to get more pop out of 3B, Beckham moved over to second and Gillaspie on the bench when the Sox face lefties. I definitely get your points though and agree. Davidson would clearly be a desperation move but with the lack of production coming from third and second bases I guess desperate ideas are bound to pop up. Lol. For now, with what the Sox have to work with, the best idea might be to play Beckham at second more since nobody has stepped up and claimed the position. Beckham can still play 3B against lefties. Honestly, I think I'm just now starting to realize just how big the holes are at 2B/3B and the lack of options the Sox have to fill those holes. I'm scratching my ass over here. Prospects coming up is a good thing, except if they are normal rookies and struggle their first few weeks. Then, they are trash. Ride it out with Sanchez and Johnson. The Sox lost to the ERA leader in the AL yesterday without their best hitter available. They aren't the first team not to put up much offense vs. him. Melky is starting to hit some balls hard again. Get Abreu back with Avi, get something out of the catchers, get Eaton to forget he has hit 2 homers recently, and the offense should bounce back. You are the only one focused on last game. The offense had been coming around the last 4 or 5 games, but from your comments in the game thread it appears you have no idea the guy the Sox faced yesterday has been one of the best pitchers in baseball this year, and seemed to forget the Sox best hitter was not playing. And of course what would any change of player personnel do? You have already blamed the manager for the offense. How opinions change so quick. just making an observation on how desperate the fans are. when the org thought they had in the most part assembled enuf players to fix the hole esp in their thought of prospects stepping up. well all that failed, the system is devoid of any help coming from the minors. what other choice is there?? i mention this the other day, time to go dumpster driving on players on the waiver list. again there is no prospects who can help in the minors.
