@philgrogers: With Quintana out of picture, 2016 White Sox rotation would have Sale, Rodon, Danks & 2 from Fulmer/Johnson/Drabek/Beck/Montas/Danish mix.

That sounds horrible. If you trade Q, you better resign Shark or sign a free agent in the offseason.

If I'm doing Q for Puig straight up I'd try to find a way to dump some dead weight instead of a decent prospect. Maybe I'm overvaluing Q but Puig's value has got to be pretty low (for him at least) right now,

Except what need do they have for Danks, LaRoche or an outfielder?

They've got money. If I'm Hahn I'm asking for Puig + either a prospect or you take LaRoche. Then we stick Avi's ass at DH and use some of the LaRoche savings to try and resign Shark

My ideal situation is trading Q and M. Johnson for Puig, and then extending Samardzija

To me that's an over pay for puig. If you trading q to the dodgers I'm saying at the least a minimal of one of their top prospects. I really wouldn't want puig on the team. You would be losing possible 2 years of control on player on switching quintana for puig. Even more if you throw in micah.

No it's not because bats are at a premium. If ya got a bat, you've got a diamond. If ya got pitching, ya got gold.

I think Samardzija gets something like 5 years $105 million.

My gosh. What owner would agree to that? You know it's just overpaying and the team that pays that will want to dump him by July next year.

This four game sweep was the worst thing that could have happen for our long term future. I hope FO doesn't start believing in this team like I did after seeing great pitching( which is norm for us), stellar defense (not use to seeing around here) and some timely hitting ( also not use to seeing). I want this team to take CUBS approach and suck for few year and stock pile our minor league roster.

Might as well keep winning and win the WC. Like somebody said the other day on soxtalk.com, it'd be nice to have a team for once come out of nowhere from the dregs to steal a playoff spot. It'd be so NOT like the white Sox organization to do that for once.

Yep, Shields is going to be a very hard sell. Imo, Shields' contract sheds a little light as to what Samardzija could be looking for in his next contract. Not necessarily back loaded but the annual salary (21M) and years (5). I would not touch that.

This is what I don't get. We're just past the all star break and suddenly Shields won't be wanted by anybody. Yet just a few months ago, last offseason, he was highly sought after and commanded the ridiculous contract he got from the Pads. Why can't GMs and owners do some projecting and realize guys like Shields and Shark are not worth 20 million a year. I mean Verlander isn't worth 5 million a year now. I wish I had monopoly money to throw around like baseball execs. At least in football they can sign guys to ridiculous deals then release them. The only money that matters is the upfront cash.

I disagree. Pitching is always going to be a premium. Good pitching will shut down bats. Look at the last series the sox played Toronto. Sox good pitching shutdown one of baseballs top offenses in league. Tigers also have one of top offense in league but their pitching is hurting them.

Wow, that would be a shocker.

Still hesitant about adding an NL bat in the middle of a pennant race, but you'd be crazy not to consider it.

The problem is that Ramirez has actually looked pretty good the last 2-3 weeks.

And that would surely mean they're trading half the minor league system.

Most importantly, does Tulo really want to play for the Sox? Does he have the right to refuse a trade to the Sox...do we know the list of protected teams he can't be traded to?

If traded to anyone, he gets a bunch of cash, a few million, cant remember how much.

It's what I've heard in MLBN. Some exec said right now that if ya got a bat ya got gold.

Agreed. Shark stays if Q is gone IMO.

And what good is Shark staying . It would only be for the rest of this year . He is not resigning with the Sox. He is testing free agency . Giving up a cost controlled Q and resigning Shark at huge dollars and long years would be wacko !

Have you lost your mind ? I expect more from you. You give up the younger cost controlled pitcher just to resign the older expensive pitcher who won't be worth the money he'll be paid at the end of the deal? Are you trying to cripple the Sox financially ?

I think he stays in the offseason. It's hard to move Q now though. I would anticipate them trying to move Tim Anderson for Puig but they have Seager so I'm grasping at straws now like we all are.

Deals for Shark to TOR and SF in place. The deals are sitting there. KW is still "all in" on '16 and Rick is not so there's that drama right now.

Amy idea on the targets? Well they move him before the start tomorrow or wait til Friday you think

Being all in for 2016 would have no impact on Shark deal, he is going to free agency regardless.

Of course Kenny is all in. He is all in every year no matter what. He must be a joy to play poker with.
