harkness99
Is he 0 for his last 50? I've never seen such a clueless undisciplined hitter. Prove me wrong Avi but you are looking like a man spiraling into a bust.

He is the least of our problems hitting wise. How bout Flowers, Sanchez, Alexei, Melky, Eaton, Beckham, Gillaspie, Soto?

He is the least of our problems hitting wise. How bout Flowers, Sanchez, Alexei, Melky, Eaton, Beckham, Gillaspie, Soto? I was doing my best impression of a typical SoxTalk poster after someone has a bad game. Honestly, he's struggling right now (like everyone else on the team), but as BigHurt said, he's been one of the lone bright spots on offense. BlackSox13
Avi just turned 24 and is in what is hopefully his first full season. Offensively he has improved this year so his improvement is a nice bright spot despite slumping.
flavum
He's not all bad. Future LF/DH. Not what I would consider the problem right now.

Prove me wrong Avi but you are looking like a man spiraling into a bust. Avi may pull out of it but my first thought is that other teams have changed the way they pitch him and his reaction to that is an 0 for 50 slump. caulfield12
8/50 (.160) since his injury at the end of May. He does have 3 homers and 7 RBI's, so he hasn't been completely unproductive with those hits at least.

Most of us Soxtalk veteran posters haven't always been like this. Speaking for myself and maybe others (?) we're beat down with lousy play and more apt to make outrageous negative statements. For myself, all the 05 guys are gone now so there's nobody to stick up for. I have no emotional tie to any of these stiffs, except of course Sale and Abreu who deserve my utmost respect. caulfield12
QUOTE (JoshPR @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 02:43 AM) Gamethreads have become unbearable..... In all honesty, what positives were there last night? Beckham made a couple of good defensive plays and almost hit a home run but it went foul. Plus, there's the overwhelming optimism surrounding the Hawks and even the Cubs right now...it's human nature to be frustrated when your favorite team seems to be getting left way behind. Understood completely, but I still support the team. We have talent, but it just hasn't seemed to jell. Now after last nights fiasco of a game you would hope maybe they have hit bottom and will comeback? harkness99
I'm not making any final conclusions about AVI... It's that I hear all this talk about how great he is going to be from people inside and outside the organization. I have some serious doubts... He ranks near the bottom in multiple plate discipline categories... He is 2nd in all of baseball in swings and misses.. also 2nd in all of baseball at swinging at pitches outside the zone. Feeky Magee
He's just not that good a baseball player, fooled many into thinking he was due to a BABIP mirage and has somehow managed to convince the org he is a future great without even displaying basic competency thus far
