yes, it's sort of a standard "pavilion" structure with a big lawn in the back, similar to the Hollywood Casino Music Theater south of Chicago (My word that's what it's called now?). Probably fits 25000 or so.

25k is a nice size venue and imo, always better to catch bands outdoors when the weather is warmer. Well, as long as the sound system is good and the beer garden is close by.

Yeah, that place in Tinley Park has changed names a few times. Last time I was there it was The World Music Theatre but that was 2000 when I went to see Megadeth and The World's sound system was absolutely horrible! Haven't been there since but I'm not far away from Sears Centre so I try and catch bands there when I can. I really miss Poplar Creek since it was outdoors and close by but that's been gone for over 20 years so there's really no outdoor venues close to me any more which kinda sucks.

For any house/techno fans, Boiler Room has been live from Chicago the past two nights and from Detroit this weekend. Chicago versus Detroit...on reloop all week

I had tickets but could not make it. I should have tix for Saturday in Detroit and I am seriously considering driving there.

Foo Fighters released a free EP on Monday titled Saint Cecilia. It's decent. The title track is good. How can you not like free unexpected Foo Fighters music?

I saw this and I listened to whatever song autoplayed on their website. I didn't find it very interesting, but I haven't really liked any FF tunes for a while now.

It is indeed possible to not like free unexpected music. I haaaaaaaated that album U2 dumped onto my iTunes without my knowledge or consent. Blecch.

There were so many good Internet jokes about this when it happened.

"Want to go to the U2 concert tomorrow?"

"Oh, are we gonna go to it or are they gonna break into our living room and play for us there?"

You get the impression from Dave Grohl that Sonic Highways in general was a kind of "phone it in" thing. They toured all over the country and wrote cheap songs that sound like all their other songs about their experiences.

It's too bad, too. Wasting Light was one of their better efforts in some time.

At this point it's pretty clear Grohl is more focused on the expansion of the Foo Fighters brand (ie the HBO show) than the music itself. But the music is still enjoyable, even if it's not as good as the Colour and the Shape or There Is Nothing Left to Lose.
