Q trade value

What is this guys trade value? Can he net Schwarber+? Great contract. If he pitched as well as last season, he'd have very good trade value. It might be time to trade him. He'd dominate the NL.

This team desperately needs hitting prospects. Loading up on a couple from the Cubs could be a good idea.

This is a high risk for this organization. They a) can't develop them any further b) ruin them by getting them to learn a new position they never played

It is, which is why it's such a big deal they haven't been able to develop any in years. Also, I think it's going to be very difficult to get teams to trade away their prized hitting prospects in the high minors since offense is at such a premium now.

Young, left, relatively cheap for an extended period of time, slots into the top 3 of pretty much any rotation in baseball.

Schwarber, Starlin Castro, and Pierce Johnson would be my asking price. Might be crazy, idk, but Q's value to our team is extremely high in my opinion.

There is no chance the Cubs accept that offer, sorry.

I'd take Schwarber and Baez for Q probably. Or maybe Schwarber, Villanueva, and Alcantara

I highly, highly, highly, highly doubt the Cubs would be willing to part with Schwarber without getting Sale in return. I think we value Q a lot more than they do.

He was a 5 WAR player last year, is cheap, and locked up for 5 years. It would cost Schwarber or there's not a chance I'd make the deal. Why do people keep bringing up Cubs/Sox trades anyway? They never happen.

Same here. But it is what it is. I just don't think the Cubs would give up that much talent for Q.

I feel like the Sox/Cubs are always brought up as trade partners because the Sox have the "desirable" veterans that the Cubs could use to further their "playoff push", and the Cubs have some nice prospects that the Sox could use to help boost the farm system and to hopefully make an impact in future years.

They never deal though. I think their last deal was Aardsma for Cotts.

There's no reason to trade Sale, Q, Rodon or Danks. Once again, that's a good foursome for the future. A playoff foursome.

Now what they have to do like I said before is try again with the everyday lineup and bullpen. Trade all the guys I've mentioned in many threads as a do-over and also add Duke and Robertson to the trade lineup. You are talking about another chance at acquiring productive ballplayers. Hahn can't keep striking zero on trades. Granted Melky and LaRoche and Lexi, etc., won't bring as much as before but they'll still bring something. Boston is starting DeAza for gawdsakes. Teams need name players and we got em and need to f***ing trade them ASAP! Time is wasting.

We're not winning anything with these guys in the future. Trade them now.

The words "Danks" and "a good future" should never be used in the same thought.

You are really undervaluing Q. He was a top 10 pitcher last year, is lefty, and is on a great contract. You don't think they trade a DH prospect for him? Cubs trade Schwarber for Quintana 100/100 times.

I'm getting tired of hearing "the Cubs won't give up blank for Sale/Q cause they're the real deal."

Then they don't get Sale or Quintana. Sale had the highest value in baseball and Quintana's is also extremely high.

the sox like philly with Cole Hamels, are in the drivers seat. the sox can state they will expect a king's ransom and if the teams comes a calling fine.

Agreed and there's another aspect not yet mentioned. IMHO, in order for the cubs to acquire Sale or Q the cubs likely have to over pay. If I'm the Sox, I'm not very intrigued by the idea of hearing about how well Q or Sale is pitching for the cubs for the next four plus years.

It's a novel idea to talk about trading with the cubs because they are so loaded with hitting talent but in reality I doubt it ever happens. Not on this grand of scale.

Besides, do we really want to give the cubs a chance at getting back at the Sox for the Karchner/ Garland trade?

I wouldn't mind hearing about how good either is over there as long as whoever we got was doing and is productive.

I usually think that Sox fans underrate their players, but in this case, I think Sox fans overrate the value of Quintana v. how the rest of the league would see him. But all it takes is one motivated trading partner.

As for Schwarber, I think the Cubs would trade him for someone of Q's value. The problem is that he may not have a position, Theo's spin notwithstanding. Cubs get a lot of value out of media hype of their prospects.

There are other teams to trade with besides the Cubs anyway.

What I'd ask for for Quintana: MLB ready C, MLB ready 3B, and an MLB ready starter.

For Sale: that, plus say 2-4 other prospects.

I would agree w you but would add some flexibility. For Q, I would want:

1. A MLB ready SS or C.

2. A MLB ready 3B, 2B or OF

3. A MLB ready starter 4-5th slot.

If # 2 ended up being an OF then I would trade Avi or LaRoche for a MLB ready 3B or 2B.

I would also trade Shark for a MLB back-end starter or a MLB 3B, 2B or OF.

Hopefully that would upgrade 3B, 2B and add 1 starter. That would fill either SS or C but still leave one as a problem. Also would mean 1 starter from minors or Fulmer would be needed.

Alexei, Conor and Gordon would be expendable as throw-ins or DFA.

I would not trade Sale.

Avi is a DH without the certainty of 30 or even 25 homers and a marginal OBP.

What team would give you a young infielder with above average offensive and defensive upside for that? LaRoche at his age is more salary dump than the expectation of a return better than Nolan Sanburn.

You can probably get a Susac or Swihart/Vasquez...at catcher, but then you blow yet another hole in your offense where you don't have a minor league replacement.

It's like filling one leak in the dike with a sandbag...two more will holes will spring up.
