Wise Master Buehrle
Wow. I want him! The Sox need one of their own special Asian players, don't the Mariners have like 10? Wait..I think I remember reading something about the Indians signing this guy..
Soxplosion
Not bad, not bad at all. KW oughta to give it a shot...
Chisoxfn
I've been hoping the Sox would get him for a while. Would be a great addition to the club from both a on the field standpoint as well as a marketing standpoint. If he plays like he's capable off, it would be a great way for hte Sox to draw the Asian market into the Cell and in turn increase payroll. witesoxfan
A step faster then Ichiro? I'd have to see it to believe it. However, it does sound like this guy is a stud. I could see him putting up .275 20 70 20 type numbers with a very good glove. Thing is, he'd cost a ton of frickin money. Are we willing to dish it out? Sox would make it back, imo, in the increased ticket sales they'd get from the Asian market. Plus, they'd have a guy they could market internationally. This would reach out to an untapped source of fans. It has worked with Ichiro, Hideki Matsui and Hideo Nomo. I think it is worth a shot. DBAHO
WE'LL Reiny pay him though... WHY the hell is the Yankmees in the compettion they have Jeter.....MORE reasons to hate that dam ballclub Hmm, I know for a while they would possibly put Matsui into 2nd and move Soriano into Left, but Alfonso has made sure that's never gonna happen and I don't blame him. He'd be losing a lot of value by moving.
Al Lopez Ghost (old)
It would be exciting but I'm not getting my hopes up. If he did sign with us, tho, it would lead to a lot of "KAZMAT" signs.
DBAHO
If he does come to America next year no matter what team he plays for over here any predictions for what his numbers will be? Will he struggle early like Hideki Matsui and come on late, or will he be a raging sucess like Ichrio?
MnSoxFan
I disagree, keep Jose for 2-3 more years, and spend money on pitching, pitching and pitching. After 2-3 years Valido or someone else will be available.
Harry Chappas
I think the cub will go after him harder for the PR spin as sosa ages they need something. If the sox were to go after him I think it is a year early as Valentin appears locked for next season.

southsider2k5
Jose is our Shortstop and he has earned it. I can see wanting to reward Jose for what he has done here over the last few years, but there is no way I would pass up a chance at a potential franchise SS. Maybe we sign the "franchise player" and he starts in the minors? Will that happen?

The guy is 30 and a superstar in Japan. It would be like having Matsui or Ichiro start in the minors.

I didn't read the ESPN story, which I should have done, but I did now. He sounds great, but ESPN gives you all the info and all those signing options and never says anything definite do they? He sounds great, but ESPN gives you all the info and all those signing options and never says anything definite do they? Its too early for much substance. First of all the guy has to declare that he wants to go to the US, and the Japanese baseball league has to allow him, then each MLB team that is interested has to submit a sealed bid for the right to negotiate with him in the event they are the high bidder. Then the winning team has a specified period of time to negotiate, and if they don't reach a deal they get their money back.

He would fit so well with this ball club. Ya I remember those discussions. I think the two of us would be great additions to the Sox staff as well as some other people here. I know Cerb/Rex/MN would be my minor league guys

Plus Jose isn't getting any younger and he's a whiff machine. This guy could come in and fill the leadoff void and the Sox would probably then let go of Alomar Jr. and Everett and pick up at least a pick for one of them. Then if they could somehow get Jacque Jones to play center and you have Matsui and Jones 1/2 you'd have a damn good top of the order, imo. This is just my little pipedream. I'd keep the rotation the same and I wouldn't make any changes to the pen.
