hi8is
Today around 2pm CST they ran a pretty lengthy talk on this subject. Unfortunately I was out to lunch with the damned channel playing... no sound thou. Anyone else catch this that can give a summary of what was said? Leonard Zelig
They said the Sox may or may not be blown up. Also, poop.

chw42
All this talk of blowing up the White Sox. Meanwhile the Red Sox are actually worse record-wise and spent even more money this off-season.

Sounds enlightening and fully worth my frustration of not being able to hear them. Should have known.
Balta1701
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 06:10 PM) All this talk of blowing up the White Sox. Meanwhile the Red Sox are actually worse record-wise and spent even more money this off-season. 0.5 games worse and they've played 1 more game, to be fair. But yeah, they might be in about as big of a mess as us...although they do have a whole lot more young contributors to sub in as a way to try to fix that in the next few years. Y2Jimmy0
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 05:14 PM) 0.5 games worse and they've played 1 more game, to be fair. But yeah, they might be in about as big of a mess as us...although they do have a whole lot more young contributors to sub in as a way to try to fix that in the next few years. And they just spend over mistakes. The White Sox won't and can't do that.
caulfield12
And, it's a lot easier to make a quick recovery in the current AL East than the Central...that hasn't been the case since 2005-2006.

GreenSox
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 05:10 PM) All this talk of blowing up the White Sox. Meanwhile the Red Sox are actually worse record-wise and spent even more money this off-season. Run differential says that the White sox have about 10 more wins than they should. Red Sox have more $$ and a far better farm system to fall back on. Edited June 24, 2015 by GreenSox

elrockinMT
Ken Rosenthal said Sox are out of it but it's tough getting any returns in a trade at this point. He thinks Shark should be dealt. I think we should sign Shark and hold tight for next year and just look at upgrading at catcher and 3B. BUT, I am not giving up on this year and at least a wild card spot Edited June 26, 2015 by elrockinMT

BUT, I am not giving up on this year and at least a wild card spot And your SS plan? Please don't answer Sanchez and Micah Johnson, or Beckham and Micah/Sanchez up the middle. As of the moment, White Sox at 2.3% chance at wild card, Oakland at 10.3%, Boston at 10.5%. “There might be a change here and there but you have the people you have unless you can move them,” Ventura said. “Those are the facts. Right now we’re going to have to figure out a way for this group to get better...You have to keep them together, keep them pointed in the right direction and there’s an element in here that you don’t want them to cave into it.” “You continue to compete and you have to be able to come out here,” Ventura said. “You practice right, you get the right mentality going and you go play. And there has to be that expectation there. There is a professionalism that goes with it and whether it’s going good or bad, you better be coming out ready to compete.” “I get my point across and these guys know that and there’s moments that are louder than others. There’s moments that are more poignant than others. But in the end, this is professional baseball and there are standards that are there and I’m trying to make sure those are met. And when they’re not, it becomes a tougher conversation with guys. You’re upfront and they know what’s expected.” http://www.csnchicago.com/white-sox/robin-...&ocid=yahoo Glad Ventura wasn't hired as the inspirational speaker at his daughter's graduation! White Sox have a better record than Boston, and are just .5 games behind Oakland. Why are their chances higher? Still 90 games to go and they're 6 back in the wild card. Eaton and Cabrera are showing signs of light. Anything can happen.

I'm not sure what projection system he's using but it's probably based a little on preseason expectations. Those teams were thought to be better coming into the season. Also, based on run differential and overall performance, most systems would say the Sox are "lucky" that their record isn't worse.

Boston is behind Oakland and Seattle now...7.7%. Had the Twins way down in the middle of the pack. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/standings/probabili...sp?ymd=20150625 Has Cubs at 71.8%, higher than the Pirates in the high 50's and two consecutive playoff appearances. Bottom four NL teams are basically dead in the water. Edited June 26, 2015 by caulfield12

I am not sure anyone can give you an answer as your thinking is such that every member of the Sox stink and our minor league system is a non show. I am not happy with Ramirez and his play this year but look at his record with he Sox. If players do their job as a cohesive team you can compete. Not all or any have to be all-star champions
