Stop. Don't compare those two players.

why, posters have been taking some liberty with the truth ..... in order to do the "what if" scenario.

all i am doing to showing the talent that the hawks gave up, in a 1 sided trade.

There is absolutely no comparison between Saad and Toews.

as i said, comparing the stats.... they are close. i am just using this as an example of the talent the hawks are loosing.

either way.... it is done and over.... lets just wait and see what else bowman has in store.

Questioning Bowman is crazy though. For some reason people still do this. He had to tear apart the team in 2010 because of Dale Tallon. Everyone said they'd never win again. They won the cup in 2013. In 2013, they had a reshuffle as well. People thought it was over again. Then they won the cup in 2015. The man knows what he is doing and Kane and Toews aren't even 28 years old yet. For all the s***ty sports teams in this city, I'm not going to question the GM of the one that isn't.

I agree questioning Bowman is crazy, but what is equally crazy is ripping Tallon. If he didn't pick Kane and Toews and Keith and Seabrook, there would be zero cups. There was that one snafu, but it was revealed a subordinate screwed up. Dale took the blame, that's fine.

LDF, it's time to take a deep breath and maybe take a few steps away from this thread for a while. The world didn't end, a good player was traded and that happens all the time. Everything will be alright.

I didn't mean to sound like I was. I never ripped Dale Tallon. He's a great scout. He did mess up the salary cap though. They don't win the cups without Tallon's acquisitions though.

then why didn't bowman insist on a face to face mtg with the agent and player. JR does that all the time.

so does other owners on other teams.

At some point you have to let it go. Bowman was facing a time crunch of having a deal in place before the player could receive a formal offersheet. Expecting him to screw around and call Saad to come back to Chicago for a meeting is a luxury he couldn't have afforded, even if he felt that Saad and his agent weren't on the same page, which why should he have made that assumption without the benefit of hindsight?

I really hope Morin is not a 3rd line player for the Hawks next season.

He's probably not, but it's so early so I just put his name in there.

He is probably 4th line or 13th forward.

That is like giving him credit for not stepping in front of a bus. Those were both Duh type of picks.

Sharp - Toews - Hossa

Dano - Anisimov - Kane

Panarin - Tuevo - Morin

Shaw - Kruger - ? (Dejardins maybe)

I would bet that Panarin will be on the first line with Toews and Hossa.

It will be a big shock to leave Toews and Hossa for Columbus, I know that much.

Richards offensive system is supposed to be similar to the Hawks, but at every stop he's made it hasnt materialized and the blame has always been put on not having the right players for the system. I've yet to see his philosophy pay off for a team he coaches.

Any system is going to work much better when you are skating with two Hall of Famers.

Leaving one of the premier cities on earth for a college town in the middle of goddam ohio. I'd be crying, but at least I could wipe the tears away with dollar bills.

Anisimov extension, 5 years 4.55 AAV, Kicks in next summer. 22.75 total.

Can't say I love the deal given his injury history and I see him closer to a 3C than a 2C, but I guess that's the price nowadays. Just hope he can stay healthy and thrive in the new environment. Plus, the Hawks managed to win a Cup with the corpse of Michal Handzus at 2C, so it absolutely can be done with Anisimov.

Only $2 million more than Saad, which doesn't seem like much, but that's how much got them Brad Richards last year.

Thankfully two other GMs thought Erik Johnson and Jordan Staal were better than Toews.

Pittsburgh have missed out on Saad, so maybe they go after Sharp now, who knows, there's probably still a market for him, but at least Bowman has options now, if the package in return isn't good enough, you keep Sharp around.

To note - paper here clearly were disappointed that the Penguins missed out on a chance at Saad and they were mentioning Sharp as an option a bunch last week.
