The Bones
In the 9th inning, did anyone else have memories of the 2001 season when the twins would almost always come back against the sox and break their hearts late in the game. I'm glad this is 2003...the year of the sox!
DonkeyKongerko
Twin's had a Sox-esque come back going there like our comebacks against Anaheim and Detroit that fell just short. I think they were just about the luckiest team in baseball last year and everything went their way. This year they have fallen back to earth in a big way. CubKilla
This year they have fallen back to earth in a big way. Not big enough though I think a 6-8 game losing streak would be big enough. MN currently at
Elcaballo45
I was personally scared with Jones up in the 9th, as he hit that 2 run off of Koch a couple months ago in Minnesota... But, either way, Im not sure it was a good idea to put Paniagua out on the mound for work in a game like this.... GO SOX + #45!

Who didn't hit one off of Botch? A guy who's cross-eyed smoked a walk-off courtesy of Botch

By the way, Crawfor also hit HRs this year off of Joel Pineiro, Chad Fox and Pat Hentgen. Does that make those guys completely worthless in your eyes also? Drop it, and move on in life. MN currently at 2 We need to run that to 4 and take f***ing control of this division. That would be the plan, I'm sure. However, Santana and Radke have been very effective lately. Santana had a rough outing last time he pitched. Maybe that's a sign of things to come. Winning these next two won't be easy, but it would be very very huge to do so. rafacosta
IMO, the Twinkies got some confidence after that 9th inning, i hope they dont come all pumped-up for tomorrow.
DBAHO
I saw da highlights on SportsCenter of the Twinkies belated 9th Inning Comeback because of stupid Panigua. They didn't show his obscene gesture to the umpire either, hmm what a shame. Anyways when u got Flash Gordon throwing 99mph fastballs to strike out Cuddyer swinging instead of Billy Botch chucking up curveballs that get smashed by Jacque Jones, it shows how important a dominant closer is. That's why I think L.A could win it all IF they make da playoffs, that bullpen is nasty.

If they get confidence by teeing of on a guy who was in for mop up purposes only, and his 1st ML appearance this season, they are in for a shock. Garland is gonna shut 'em down and Marte, Gordon and company will keep them down.

They won't be playing the Padres in the World Series.

Al Lopez Ghost (old)
Momentum, confidence, that stuff stops at 7:07. Then it's up to Jon, in the biggest start of his life. Go get'm kid. This could be real special.

Well yeah that's been their major problem all year scoring runs, but they have won 10 out of their last 12 games I think, and they r starting to score some runs. Edwin Jackson debued and beat Randy Johnson, not too many guys can say they've done that. Since their fired their hitting coach, even guys like Beltre r starting to hit. Gagne deserves Cy Young if they make da postseason.

Especially that lefthanded hitting third baseman they have .... his name escapes me at the moment.

elrockinMT
Rafa, I see your point. But it was against a crap pitcher. That's right Rafa. I was a bit concerned too, but stop and think about it. What the heck is Panaigua even doing up with the team? He didn't do the job in Charlotte and showed he isn't ready to pitch in the bigs yet, but here he is with the team. I would have liked to seen Jon Rausch up if anyone, but that's someone else's call obviously. If Marte or Gordon would have been in there in the 9th this wouldn't have happened. I was hoping that we would see Koch in the 9th and get an idea if he was healthy or not. I think Manuel missed the chance to bring him back in a fairly safe situation to make that judgeemnt. Koch could be a real key for the next 18 games and beyond. Bottom line is we won and I think this is a different team than earlier and they have confidence in themselves. It may be a close game tonight, but Jon Garland is every bit as sharp as Santana and Garland is on a roll right now.
