I know it wouldn't work this way, but it's too bad they can't do a KW and Samardzija trade to Toronto for Hoffman and Pentecost

That would be wonderful!

curious to know if I would have told you Eaton's OBP would drop in exchange for increased power if people would take that.

In this hypothetical, it does not drop a full 40 points as I assume this season he will get a bit closer.

It's not Eaton's job to hit homeruns. He needs to get on base.

Same old same old. Never will beat the Royals

Saladino and Conor should start at SS and 3B in the night game

This team has 4th place and top 10 pick written all over it.

We're going to get past Cleveland? I guess that's still an accomplishment.

Also FWIW if Cleveland keeps playing ~ this level of baseball, without a major slump, 4th place in this division is not a top 10 pick.

And that's the game.

Positives:

-Eaton's power

-Saladino's hitting approach

-Defense

Negatives:

-Hitting

One positive: Saladino. We've seen all the rest before.

I know I know the plan is to rest Sale, but in a COMPETITIVE world, if you actually treat a game against a Central Division opponent as something you care about, you pitch Sale in Game One and hope for a shutout. Only chance to get any momentum against a team that owns you.

But no ... time to protect Sale's arm until Sunday. Thanks for showing some competitive fire, White Sox. And way to compete in Game One of the 4-game slaughter.

Again, I wouldn't mind if they'd just admit they are out of the race but they are pretending they are a WC contender. Not throwing your best guy in a statement game like Game One is no way to run a franchise where fans are supposed to believe their team has a chance.

41st time in 87 games played this year the Sox have scored three runs or less. That's 56.3% of their games. Incredible.

Another fan asked "when will this team start hitting?"

Given that over half a season is in the books the probable answer is "not this year."

As Kenny would say, "it is what it is..."

Actually it's 47.1264367816 % . 41 is not even half of 87 so it can't be over 50% unless you put in a wrong number in your post somewhere.

This team is consistent to say the least. I can't believe though how this group has forgotten how to hit.

What weirds me out is how it seems like some of the team is starting to pick it up, and yet the results are the same.

Sanchez and Saladino play two. Bonifacio starts none. #DFAsoon

Gillaspie has to be trade bait as well because he's not playing either. Love that Saladino is playing short. His defense has been pretty good at 3B.

Game 2 lineup:

Eaton, CF

Beckham, 3b

Cabrera, LF

Abreu, DH

LaRoche, 1b

Garcia, RF

Flowers, C

Sanchez, 2b

Saladino, SS

Danks, P.

That is one horrible lineup. The only way this team could have had a good offense is if the meat of the order, Cabrera, Abreu, Laroche, Garcia raked this season. Eaton and Beckham are average to below average ballplayers; Flowers is below average catcher; Sanchez and Saladino are not big league regulars for any other team.

It would have helped if Eaton raked this season as well. If he was a .320 type basher. I'd say this one has 7-0 loss all over it or maybe 7-2 if the Sox are hot.

Technically the results have been much improved from a W/L perspective last two weeks. Much of that is driven by pitching staff and defense not being as bad. Offense still stinks.
