Darn guys, you made me look up some Danks outings.

July 3 vs. Balt: 7 innings, NO runs.

June 17 vs. Pitt: 7 innings, 5 measly hits, three runs.

a bit farther back

May 31 vs. Houston: nine innings, 0 runs.

May 16 vs. Oak: 7 innings, 3 hits, 2 runs.

May 10 vs Cincy: 7 inns, 6 hits one run.

Now coupled with tonight, 3 of his last 5 outings were DANDY.

Seriously, he's no Phil Humber; he's no Carroll. He's not batting practice, folks. He's still coming off that injury. Just cause he makes a TON of money don't hate on this player.

You skipped his TOR game

Then if you go back two more starts, it's only three of his last seven. Then four in his last 10.

I know he's better than Humber and Carroll, but:

May 3 vs Min: 2.1 innings, 7 runs

May 21 vs Cle: 5.1 innings, 5 runs

May 26 vs Tor: 5 innings, 6 runs

June 6 vs Det: 4.2 innings, 5 runs

June 12 vs Tampa: 5.1 innings, 5 runs

June 22 vs Min: 5.1 innings, 9 runs

July 8 vs Tor: 4.1 innings, 6 runs

Sox get 4 runs in 2 games; gotta be happy with a split under those circumstances. Amazing pitching this season; but no bats.

Robertson, Danks, Shark were amazing today. 1-1 split.

Lucky to split indeed. However Samardzija was nowhere near amazing.

We have great pitching.

We definitely do. Let's see what happens in the other 2 games with the Royals. But Hahn has an interesting decision to make.

Those outings I mentioned show progress and potential (following the severe injury). I don't understand the hatred for Danks except for his salary. It's not his fault. He can't give the money back. Nobody does that except the great humanitarian, Gil Meche.

p.s. He's actually been excellent in four of his last 8 outings. That's not too bad for a No. 5.

I'm not worried about trades anymore. They could have dealt Shark at the all star break. They didn't. So that tells me we getting little to nothing for him. Sox think they are in the race. If they are 9 or more out the day before the deadline they'll trade Shark for scraps. Some team is gonna get him for a month and we'll get a non great prospect or 2.

So I guess nobody is getting dealt from any team at the deadline if that's your criteria

So the Sox didn't deal Shark at the allstar break because they were getting offered next to nothing for him but they also think they're in the race, this all makes sense to me.

Strange fact: Sox have had six shutouts this season (three in the last five games...) Danks has been the starting pitcher in four of them.

Team still can't hit, 50th time this season three runs or less.

But it's a win and assuming Sale wins Sunday they've at least got a split.

Just makes things tougher on Hahn but in the end, I think he sells off what he can.

No, I think Shark will get dealt at the deadline IF the Sox are 9 are so out of WC. It's obvious Hahn won't deal anybody til Sox fall out of the WC race. Some of us think that is fantasy; front office people who built this team obviously are hoping they'll still grab the WC.

I didn't explain it well. No, I think the Sox didn't deal him at the break because Hahn thinks the team is in the pennant race. I think Sox would have gotten a great haul for him had they traded him then or by Sunday. My point is they'll get little to nothing for him when he's finally dealt with a month left in the season.

They don't have to dump him if there isn't a good offer and they'll get a draft pick

I'd be surprised if the Sox get a lot for Shark but not because I don't think he's a capable, winning pitcher. The Sox won't get much because he's going to be a two month rental for some team. He's going the free agent route. Cubs got a haul for him because when he was traded to Oakland he still had a year and a half on his deal.

Forgot about that, heads. They very well could keep him then as a draft pick probably will be more valuable at the trade deadline than the scraps they get for Shark. My bad on that. I forgot about the draft pick.

Hahn absolutely has to sell. This lineup isn't showing signs of improvement.

But put yourself in their position. It's their jobs/reputations on the line in the front office. You and I may want them to dump everybody and get what they can NOW but Hahn and Kenny and Bell and the scouts still have a 'chance' to get a wild card (in their eyes). If they do get a wild card, then they are Billy Beane-type geniuses in their offseason moves. You and I both know what actually is gonna happen ... nothin. Team may tread for a bit; may not. But we all know that 1-9 stretch on the road is comin sooner or later to blast this thing into oblivion.

The comp pick is likely to be 40ish, that's no great shakes really. Even a single "B" prospect and an interesting A ball arm is better.
