Stephen Piscotty called up for series against the Sox. Strangely enough, the Cardinals outfield is already pretty full but there is some speculation that he may be tried at first. Maybe an audition for his future team?

Sources: #BlueJays showing strong interest in #Brewers RHP Mike Fiers. No deal close; MIL not especially motivated to move him.

Fiers is earning $512.5K. Not arb-eligible until 2017, under club control through ’19. #Brewers would require multiple pieces in return.

Jordy Mercer is out 6 weeks with a leg contusion and knee sprain. Pirates are already without Josh Harrison so that's the whole left side of their infield now out. They have Kang who can fill 1 of those spots but they genuinely need another player over there ASAP. Called up some dude named "Brent Morel" and I think we all know how well that goes.

Hard to believe we can't send them Gillaspie or Beckham or Bonifacio if not Ramirez.

Asked an exec of a team interested in Johnny Cueto if they saw anything to be alarmed about in his start Sunday. He said: "Yes. Everything." 44min

Well that's good news

Tigers are considering trading Price and Cespedes. Starting to look like Rick might have overplayed his hand waiting so long to trade Shark.

Fangraphs here makes the case the Tigers have better playoff odds than the "White Flag White Sox" (their reference) and should hesitate in making such a selloff move.

I think it is safe to say, after an Angel sweep, Boston will now be a seller. Porcello could be a new SP added to the available pool

No one is taking Porcello with that contract extension they gave him. That is an awful contract.

I laughed uncontrollably when they gave him that contract

Sources: Toronto in serious pursuit of starting pitcher. Suppose that's obvious at this point, but team pushing really hard to acquire one.

One other guy whose name is everywhere: Pedro Alvarez. Said one GM: "Pirates want to get rid of him. They're offering him to everybody."

While teams don't believe any deals are close with Ben Zobrist or Tyler Clippard, both will be traded in the coming days. A matter of time.

The starters' market quickly shifted from sellers' markets to a buyers' market. Lots of options available. Good for OAK to move now.

Buster Olney ‏@Buster_ESPN 2m2 minutes ago

SP available: Hamels, Cueto, Leake, Samardzija, Haren, Latos, SD's 4, Gallardo, more. SP buyers: LAD, KC, TOR, CHC, maybe 1/2 others.

Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal 2m2 minutes ago

#Padres officially are sellers. Venable, Benoit also could move, along with Kimbrel and any of SPs, with Ross perhaps least likely.

Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal 2m2 minutes ago

JUpton could return from minor oblique strain today, but #Padres might hold him out until tomorrow to be safe. Most likely SD player to go.

Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal 2m2 minutes ago

#Padres biggest needs: SS and CF.

Pedro Alvarez for LaRoche could actually be interesting. Saves the White Sox a bit of money and clears out a headcase for the Pirates.

Only problem is that our fantastic manager doesn't know how to platoon vs LHP/RHP
