Looks like the Dodgers were doing some showcasing last night, found this from Chris Cotillo:

Pulled a player so they could move Kyle Farmer from catcher to third base.

Although probably unrelated. I'm Still hoping Larry King has some insight and we do make a trade with the Dodgers, hopefuly including Puig.

I'm hoping for Puig as well.

Looks like the Cubs are getting close to a deal, was watching Kap and Haugh earlier and they were talking about one of the Cubs Minor leaguers, one of their big international signings was pulled from a game and supposedly his teammates were seen giving hugs and tweeting goodbyes.

If there's one thing I hate is being overshadowed by the media kissing the Cubs butts no matter what the trade will be, you watch, after its done they'll be the popular pick for WS

That was last night and so far nothing ever came from it.

padres have interest in cubs power prospect javier baez. teams have talked. http://cbsprt.co/1Kz17Ac

I don't know what the Cubs would get back but that makes sense as a place for Baez. They can struggle for a couple years while giving him PAs and he absolutely has the power to hit the ball out of that ballpark.

Shields? Upton? Kimbrell? Combination of those?

I think Kimbrel is worth more than those, Baez does make sense as a possible return for either of the first 2 IMO. I'm also pretty down on Baez though, so "a rental OF" or "a starting pitcher where the Cubs take on a ton of money" are the way I read those.

I presume if Shields goes, it is a salary dump and they don't get much (even though I think he's paid relatively fairly, I don't see Cubs giving up someone like Baez for him. I could see Upton for Baez though.

There are new people in the Padres front office since the Rizzo/Cashner deal, right? Don't want the Cubs making a blatant steal again

I don't think we can guarantee that the Padres FO won't be hired by the Cubs this offseason.

I think the Tigers will make a surge in August with Cabrera back. I think Dombrowski is a clever guy and I wouldn't be surprised it he went out and got another pitcher.

Do they even have a date for Cabrera starting rehab stint? IIRC that was still up in the air.
