I don't think we should burn anything for it. If it went bad move Jeff, it was like this stay put. We are still in a retooling part of the process. Burning this down for a lottery ticket is stupid.

They pretty much are forced into it because of the need to give a shiney thing to the fan base in order to get them to show up. Even if it isn't best long term, they have to take the chance while they can to try to get people to keep showing up.

This is what I'm saying. I'd pay $74 million for two closers if we could make the playoffs.

But your not paying 74 million for two closers. Your paying half of this years salary for Kimbrel plus Robos. Then trading Kimbrel so your not taking on the rest of his contract.

You should change it back. You're rivalry/arguments with the other BigHurt were great and no one could tell you apart.

No lol. People would call me out for things he said, it was becoming annoying have to explain we are different people every week

So you're paying 4 million dollars (less than half of Kimbrel's 2015 salary) for him to close, and 5 million (half of Robertson's 2015 salary) for Robertson to be an 8th inning guy. If you want a shut-down set-up guy that badly, there are many out there who cost less than $5 million for a couple months.

They bought a lot of shiney new things this offseason and it didn't help with attendance. Consistant winning over a period of time is how you turn this thing around. That requires a rich farm system to use to replenish and to use for trade chits. Going for short term contracts to win now is not a strategic play. This is chess versus checkers here.

Attendance is up this year, very directly because of those buys. The Sox see it as an opportunity to try to keep people showing up, versus the possiblity of losing them for another year, two years, five years, etc. All you have to do is see all of the posts about how many post seasons in how many years to know that this is very directly why the Sox are looking to buy when they have the chance. They don't have a patient fan base, and can't afford to wait like the north side can.
