shysocks
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 10:04 AM) *throws tomato at your face* Bruce is a good hitter. Not overpaid. Would not just be a gamble for this season but would help the next two. He'd be worth the talent we would give up. This Carlos Gonzalez talk from people, now that has disaster written all over it. flavum
I would feel so much better about the Sox chances knowing they went at least 6-4 the next 10. Unfortunately, they don't have that kind of time.

Just please don't give up Anderson to get him. I won't pretend to know what it would cost but I'd hope not Anderson as well. I don't know the state of their system either, but the Reds do have a solid SS in Cozart already.

I don't think the gap is that big. CarGo is only 1.5 years older than Bruce, has a better stats both this year and career wise (insert Coors caveat here), is considered a better defender, would come cheaper prospect-wise and is signed longer term. I would def be interested depending on the trade package, but more importantly how much money is he still owed? With KW it wouldn't suprise me, we all know Kenny gets his guy. shysocks
QUOTE (Buehrlesque @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 11:19 AM) I don't think the gap is that big. CarGo is only 1.5 years older than Bruce, has a better stats both this year and career wise (insert Coors caveat here), is considered a better defender, would come cheaper prospect-wise and is signed longer term. That's because CarGo comes with an onerous contract and the dueling red flags of injury history and away splits. I just get a bad feeling. Regarding contracts, I believe they're both under control through 2017, but Bruce is about 13 million cheaper for the remainder of their deals and his 2017 season is under a team option with a $1M buyout. There's a lot less risk with him. If we're talking defense, well either one is replacing Avi so they won't be a downgrade.

The trade would also have to include their color guy, as I think his A rod home run tag line is one of the best in baseball when he says it. We certainly have the ammunition to get him but it's going to likely require parting with someone we'd hope for the big league squad, maybe a couple someones. With KW it wouldn't suprise me, we all know Kenny gets his guy. A god awful amount. Roughly $47 million guaranteed through 2017 along with a potential $24 million more for hitting milestone homeruns ($6 million each for numbers 714, 755, 762 & 763). ChiliIrishHammock24
Check this 3 team trade out.... Sox-Dodgers-A's. Sox acquire C Stephen Vogt (lefty to pair with Soto). Dodgers acquire Jeff Samardzija Athletics acquire prospects from Dodgers. So for the Sox, it's a swap of Shark for Vogt.

ChiliIrishHammock24
I would love to get Lucroy, but I don't want to have to give up prospects along with Shark to make a 3-team trade work. Basically my thinking is to move Shark (expendable if Erik Johnson has really found it) to fill gaps elsewhere, which means a 3-team trade has to happen. We certainly have the ammunition to get him but it's going to likely require parting with someone we'd hope for the big league squad, maybe a couple someones. I feel Gonzalez is attainable for Chris Beck-type prospects (outside of the top 10) plus potential salary relief (John Danks). Salary relief is clearly not an option for a potential Bruce trade, and I would guess our more upper echelon pitching prospects would be in play. If that's the case, I'd rather keep the good prospects and get CarGo.
