flavum
The Rangers have the second wildcard. The day the Sox got to 49-50, the Rangers were 48-52.
OmarComing25
Now's the time to go on a 10-2 run or to lose 7 of 10 to solidify a top 10 draft pick. Pick a path, White Sox.
flavum
Exactly. 25-16 or 16-25. Either one. 25-16 is better.
Jose Abreu
Sox are 25-21 since ASB, 4.5 GB of the WC. 28 of the 31 remaining games on our schedule are against non-playoff teams.

Yeah, but the Tigers are 7 of those games. I've said it before, but with the last 5 weeks being 8 of 10 series in the division, I can't see them doing better than 19-14 the final 33. That said, if 84-78 is the second wildcard, then the Sox would have to go 7-1 the next 8. Do that, and I'll get excited again. Jose Abreu
Yeah, so unless we have a 2007 Rockies-esque run (chances are less than .001%), we're done. No wild card for us.

flavum
Don't look now, but the Indians won 6 in a row and are 64-66, with 32 left. If they can grab another win in Toronto, and the Rangers fall back, they are very much in it. It would be a punch to the gut if a cluster of teams end up 83-79 or 82-80 for the 2nd wc and the Sox aren't one of them. http://espn.go.com/mlb/standings/_/view/wi...rd/group/league A good starting point for the Sox to get hope back would be to go into Minnesota and win three games. Do it. Edited September 1, 2015 by flavum

A whopping 17 of his 61 ER this year are against the Twins. He needs to SHUT THEM DOWN!

Jose Abreu
Best-case scenario is that we pull a 2007 September Colorado Rockies. But the chances of that are less than 1%. GreatScott82
I hate to go all Vince McMahon on you but.... There is no chance in hell this team makes that 2nd wildcard. This team can't even play .500 baseball. They had a golden opportunity this year with a mediocre AL and they blew it. It's time to start thinking about 2016. Let's see what these kids can do. #letTraycePlayEveryday

GreatScott82
QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Sep 7, 2015 -> 07:22 AM) If the sox blew it, so did the other 10 teams who missed the playoffs. Anytime you miss the playoffs it's a failure. It doesn't matter what team you are. This will be the 7th straight season this team has missed the playoffs. This will be the 4th straight under the KW/Hahn/Robin regime. No worries their jobs are safe though... Just to think... If they would have just undergone a true rebuild plan in three of those 7 seasons, how much better off they'd be in. Just keep "retooling" Rick and Kenny, it's working out greeeeeatt!
