flavum
Rangers lose. Half game behind the Sox. Too bad about the Twins, but the Sox pretty much have to be the best AL team the rest of the season to get a wildcard.
caulfield12
QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 1, 2015 -> 09:54 PM) Rangers lose. Half game behind the Sox. Too bad about the Twins, but the Sox pretty much have to be the best AL team the rest of the season to get a wildcard. On the plus side, that prevented the Giants from falling into a tie with the Cubs for the 2nd WC (Cubs have won four straight and now just 1 GB as SF faces its toughest stretch of the season). Rangers had a 7-4 lead in the 7th and blew it, lost 9-7 in the 11th. That also puts us back in a position with "just" Toronto and Baltimore between us and the Twins...and the Angels are reeling as well, only 4 1/2 games ahead of the White Sox. That said, we probably shouldn't be betting anything but a vacation house or maybe spare garage/shed on the Sox making it. flavum
Sox 18-10 the last 28, which is great. Now play .600 ball the rest of the season for 86 wins.

Bigsoxhurt35
Just keep in mind. Never know what can happen with these teams injury wise. Still a lot of baseball left.
Panerista
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Aug 1, 2015 -> 11:26 PM) Just keep in mind. Never know what can happen with these teams injury wise. Still a lot of baseball left. This is why I'm glad calmer heads prevailed when Jose got hit. Retaliation is just going to get someone on either side hurt. I don't want another situation like Quentin in '08. Hawk was calling for retaliation. I'm glad Robin is smarter than Hawk.

WilliamTell
Not only do the Twins get a gift from the Mariners, they also don't have to face Felix Hernandez in a 4 game series. What luck!

flavum
The Angels lose in the 10th. #1 wildcard, with a 55-49 record. .529 winning percentage paces to 85 wins. 7 head-to-head with the Angels, 6 more with the Twins. Everyone is chasing 85, and it might go lower.
