YouCanPutItOnTheBoardYES!
Now that the Gomez trade has fallen through, he is still available to anyone on the market. The Brewers have already shown their hand on what they'd need for him. They wanted a young pitcher and an infielder. Why don't the Sox offer Montas, Micah, and a lower level prospect for him? I think the Brewers would be interested. Imagine how good the Sox would be with Gomez behind Eaton? Plus Gomez would be here for 2016 as well. Let's discuss. I think Hahn should try to get him. Not sure Montas would be as enticing as Wheeler. Plus, Micah got hurt tonight (any updates anyone?). I do like the idea if they can get it done, tho. YouCanPutItOnTheBoardYES!
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 10:52 PM) They wouldn't bite. Not even close How is that offer any worse than Wheeler and Flores? If anything, the Mets proposal is more risky since Wheeler is coming off of TJ surgery. I'd give them Avi too if that made them do the deal.
Baron
Yeah that package wasnt really good for the Brewers when the rumors were the price was high. A pitcher coming off TJ surgery and Flores. That's not ground breaking. He's under control for next season too. Plus it sounds like Wheeler's medicals may have been part of the issue. GoGoSox2k2
Saw some stuff on Twitter now that Brewers plan to still move Gomez by Friday. Other than mets, who else in an actual fit for him. Have to assume won't trade in division. Dodgers - NO. giants - No (focused on pitching). Nationals - highly unlikely. Jays - No Orioles - possibly yes Rays - highly unlikely Twins - highly unlikely Angels - highly unlikely stros - doubt it White Sox - YES please

He's already an established, solid player that would fit great on this team.

Jose Abreu
We'd probably want to trade Avi so we don't have to carry an extra OF. Unless you want to option Shuck to AAA. And can Gomez play RF? Or will Eaton? Edited July 30, 2015 by Jose Abreu
ChiSox59
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 11:03 PM) We'd probably want to trade Avi so we don't have to carry an extra OF. Unless you want to option Shuck to AAA. And can Gomez play RF? Or will Eaton? Gomez could play anywhere in the Of, but is a much better CF than Eaton (and most CF in the game). ChiliIrishHammock24
Gomez is a f*** stick. I would rather not have to root for him.

justBLAZE
Mets backed out of the trade because of concerns with Gomez's hip. Per Rosenthal
Baron
A non existent issue according to everyone else looks like. I want to say the Mets have done this before.

He's the most perfect fit I can think of. He is a great defender, very fast and is still under 30 and gets $7M /year through 2016. Boras is his agent but for the rest of this year and next he's perfect.

GreenSox
He's 30, age of decline. Too expensive in terms of prospects. Sox don't need a CF. he's signed for only another year. And if people would look at numbers, and not reputation, they would see his OPS is a modest .761 this year...the decline may be under way. Too expensive in terms of prospects? How? How was that trade from the Mets expensive? How is him being signed for only 1 more year a problem?
