Same here. The overreaction after the inevitable loss, while expected, is still mind-boggling.

We're used to s***ty play so it's normal. I'd rather have Cespedes depending on the deal obviously.

Which is what Upton/Cespedes would help. The fact that we're under .500 is irrelevant when we're what, 2.5, 3 games out of a playoff spot?

So you replace one bad bat with a better one but still have holes. And yes being under .500 is relevant cause the can't consistently win to get over it and stay there

3 1/2 games right now assuming the Twins close out their 9-5 lead late.

The exact position of the White Flag Sox and the White Flag Tigers yesterday.

Except that White Sox team only had the Indians to contend with, not the Tigers, Rangers, Blue Jays, Orioles, Rays and Twins.

My overreacting isn't over the fact of a bad loss but the fact of looking at a small portion of 25 games against consistently bad for most of the year. Again the sox have to win a lot of game the rest of the year to contend. They've shown winning for a stretch of the last 25 games but alot of losing before that. Maybe they changed but time will tell.

It kind of feels like a "double loss" because we were so close to .500 again, Sale was on the mound, the Red Sox had just completely fallen apart last night...and now today the Tigers are bringing in some legit prospects to breathe new life into that franchise (and if they can bring in someone like Cueto/Greinke it will be more discouraging) and we're kind of stuck out there in no man's land.

That and the fact that Tulo/Price/Donaldson/Bautista and the rest of that offense makes the Blue Jays an even more difficult team for the White Sox to pass.

Where does Cespedes play???? Melky has very limited experience in RF. Now if you can trade LaRoche for Cespesdes it would work in that Melky goes to DH. But no way that happens. The Tigers will want a young pitcher. cespedes is also a below average fielder although he has a great arm

Buying a bat. Can't change your mind because of one rainy s***ty game facing a knuckleballer.

Some day Wright will be telling his grandchildren about the night he outpitched Chris Sale.

No team under .500 is making the playoffs it is very relevant.

It was a nice run while it lasted but even with the run the Sox are still under .500. I hope Kenny doesn't mortgage the future on another long, long shot. The remaining schedule is very difficult and I just don't see it happening so I hope the Sox resist the urge and don't do something stupid.

I'm not trying to attack you specifically or anything. My point is, for the past few days, everyone has been posting in the Buyer thread. There was absolutely no talk of selling during this streak, and after one loss, there suddenly is.

Melky can play RF. He's played 100+ games over there. It's not as different from LF as you'd think.

Most of those 100 games were when he was young. He has played less than 25 the last 5 years. Right field tends to be harder for a left handed outfielder.

I'm not saying his defense in right will be good. His defense in left isn't even good. But, he can at least play RF if needed. I can think of many left handed right fielders. Pretty sure De Aza played some RF for us.

14.5 million wasted.

Nobody knew he was going to get hurt. You give a pitcher a lot of money you will get burned. Look at Detroit. They paid Price 19.75 mill this season and was DYING to get rid of him. Blame baseball owners and GMS; why blame Danks. He f***ing got hurt. If the Sox sign Shark you'll be just as mad at him when he gets hurt with his 18-20 mill dollar contract.

Sox will still be under .500 even taking 2 of 3. Sox need to win and do it in bunches

Yes but it's a process. Just keep winning series and go on another 7 of 8 run at some point and Sox figure to be OK, unless some of the better teams play to their potential and pull away (o's, blue jays, rangers).

Price was pitching great until his last start against his former team....that wasn't the problem, his FA status at the end of the year was.

They valued the package they got in return for him and the prospect for Soria and whatever they'll get for Cespedes, Rajai Davis and Avila as a better ROI than the very slim probability of them making the playoffs from 3 games under, Verlander still not back to 100% and Anibal Sanchez a shadow of his former self and no solutions at the 4/5 spots in the rotation.

Most importantly, Miguel Cabrera's out (and perhaps the injury is more serious than first reported), and their line-up's not going anywhere without him as the driving force.
