Al Lopez Ghost (old)
Loiza's been our MVP, but he says his arm is tired and he had consecutive bad starts. his next start is probably Tuesday in Minny. That's the game of the year for him. It's a distraction to worry about the Cy Young competition - if he doesn't win the award, we probably go home from KC on 9/28, and that will suck. DBAHO
Yeah if it was a big, big game one that we absolutely needed to win, call me crazy but I'd actually want Colon to pitch it at da moment. Loaiza has been great this season, and probably deserves Cy Young (betcha Roy Halliday wins it though), but he starting to look tired and I think he's got way more run support than Bartolo has this year. Don't forget Bartolo won 20 games last year, with da Tribe and the Expos.

Bartolo Colon may be our best starter right at the moment, but Esty has been the horse we rode in on. Just a thought. Garland may have been our most reliable starter in the second half. He may have had some bad breaks, but he generally given us a quality start most every time out.

His game of the year is already past, and he blew it. By next start it may not matter anymore. His next start doesnt mean anything... DBAHO
Hmm Rob Neyer said this about Halliday vs Loaiza for Cy Young in a recent chat wrap. Two points in Halladay's favor . . . One, aren't those 40 innings an argument for Halladay? I don't have the numbers handy, but if Halladay finishes the season with 35-40 more innings than Loaiza, I would consider that a big plus. And two, hasn't Halladay faced significantly tougher competition than Loaiza? Think how many times Halladay must have faced the Red Sox and Yankees this season. Somehow I think he's kinda got a point there.
