White Sox Survey...

Rodon, Fulmer and Anderson all need to be close to All-Star level...

That happens, they're just a bat or two away.

With Nate Jones (looking as good as he has) and Montas, it has the makings of a nasty pen. That's the one good thing to come out of the last two weeks of play.

i see the sox in 3 phases on development and reaping the reward for their hard workd

in the immediate future, i do not know, the continuation of Rodon developing.

the next phase, Fulmer, plus some of the advance prospects like montas, danish, anderson, may.

the last phase the great young prospects that for me, is making this org system glow with potential not only those next yr in AA but all the rookies leagues and great fals......

really nice future. if the sox can get over the hump in the majors with a few players at key positions that needs to be fixed.

this team will be a great for a very long time.

ok i am drinking my sox kool-aid here. :drink

I said nothing negative about the product on the field. They're not going to take the suggestions of a random fan seriously, and they shouldn't. I'm sure they have people who read message boards - they've heard it all already anyway.

Instead I targeted Hawk, because the announcing booths are something that directly affects fan engagement, an area where the voice of the fan is perhaps the most important. He's gotta go. He gets worse every single day.

I really could give a s*** who is announcing.

I want to win.

I want to win too, but I recognize that nothing I say in that survey is going to help the Sox win. Maybe if enough people exclaim that they want Hawk gone, we'll have an announcer who can make losing more palatable instead of the depressing old crank we put up with now.

Why optimistic? I know our pitching is great but it's been allegedly great for some time now and we continue to be a last place team in the Central. I don't really think Saladino and Sanchez are the answer despite their good gloves and Eaton and Avi are still question marks for the future. You guys like our setup men, I think they blow. Petricka and Putnam are average at best and Duke isn't that reliable. Robertson is great but still blows a lotta saves.

Flowers' long streaks of suckage are a constant problem and Lexi is old. So why are you optimistic.

Anderson has to be great or we are in a world of hurt.

I said "optimistic" simply because I hate negativity. While there are problems to be sure and in answering other questions I addressed those, I actually like a lot of things about this team.

I guess it's a matter of opinion. I love Hawk and continue to appreciate his very unique style of broadcasting to this very day. His mood usually reflects my own, which reflects what's going on down on the field, and I've always appreciated that about him. For me, his passion is contagious. And I also happen to think he and Stone work better together than many give them credit for, and in particular, they do get on a good role periodically where both of their individual wealth of knowledge come together very nicely to explain the game in a way that I find very interesting. He's not everyone's cup of coffee these days, but then on the other hand, he is still beloved by many, too.

As bad as this team is, I have optimism because we have some good talent in the minors and have a core of good players. Now we just need better acquisitions this offseason along with the further development of our minor leaguers.

I have less optimism with our Minor League position players. We were all awaiting the arrival of Semien and Johnson, both touted as good prospects. But both arrived w below average defensive skills. Semien's bat has carried him but his defense is really bad. Johnson's bat never got that chance because his glove was so bad. My fear is Anderson will arrive in 2017 and he will be flawed as well. His defense has been pretty average as a SS. There is really no one at AAA, except maybe Johnson, who will push the ML roster for playing time. Sanchez and Saladino look like they could battle for reserve infielder as both have acceptable gloves but limited bats. Our ability to develop a skilled ML player concerns me. I don't mean an allstar but just a player w a solid glove and bat. It would be great if Trayce Thompson made a spash but I don't think the Sox will be giving him a chance to play every day so he can try and make an impact.

May as well let Thompson DH. One would hope he's not worse than LaRoche. If he is we have more problems.

I'm not saying it will make any difference but I do know if fans don't tell management how they feel, NOTHING will certainly change.

We all know they are already aware of this (and all the other) Sox message boards. It's impossible they don't know how we feel already.

But filling out this survey can't hurt either.

no offense but why not Avi as dh and let thompson play the field.

That works for me. I'd like to see Trayce in the OF and most importantly Getting LaRoche out of the lineup. Poor guy, I feel bad for him, but enough is enough.

This was a poorly designed survey in general.

But specifically, the question about fan input impacting team decisions. I sure hope they're talking about team decisions in the areas of ticket/parking pricing, marketing and promotions. If they're talking about fan input affecting team personnel decisions, then I want no part of that. No team should be catering to fans that way.

Yes. When they slashed ticket and parking prices in 2013(?) they specifically said it was due to the feedback they got from the fan surveys.

the sox FO is giving the impression of appearing to do things for the fans, to make the fans believe they are giving value input without letting the fans know the truth.

it is a fluff piece based on what they, the sox, hope the fans believe that there ideas is being taken to the highest authority in the sox org. in addition that the sox thrive on the collective wisdom of the fans valued thoughts.

You figured it out.

The White Sox front office decided to put a bunch of work into conducting an elaborate hoax (complete with what look like third party survey's from an independent marketing firm) into tricking stupid White Sox fans into thinking the franchise actually cared what they thought about the team and the game day experience.

The reality is that Jerry and the board just sit around reading these things at board meetings for a laugh then lighting them on fire with the hundred dollar bills they got from fans.

ok i will acknowledge your snark.

but if the sox really cared, they should have continue the rebuild in the off season instead of stopping.

yet jr went on and lambasted the fans for not buying more season tickets.... that is money he was talking about..... more profit.

Never saw or heard anything like that. I know Cooper and Kenny at three times this year questioned where the fans were or their baseball knowledge.

Mark

it was around the the time of the tix were on sale, the sox had just sign someone and the salary cap was around at that time, around 95-100 mil.

he mention in the interview that the sox needed to get fans involve b/c, something about the sox need to find way to afford the salary.

now it was on this time several posters, including myself, had a huge debate on this site how the hidden money the sox has / had, and etc.....

i really don't want to redo that whole discussions.
