McDermott to come off the bench this season (or for now, at least), according to Hoiberg. He hinted at this starting lineup for the regular season:

Rose

Butler

Snell

Mirotic

Gasol

Hopefully that means they are saving Jo's knees with smart minutes.

Hypothetical elimination from a FB thread.

Four Hall of Fame or future HOF guys that you can build your team with, but you can only take three of the four.

Who do you leave off and what order would you take them?

Michael Jordan

Kobe Bryant

Lebron James

Magic Johnson

I leave Kobe and it's not particularly close, though someone else can probably better explain it than me.

Agreed. But one, kobe/jordan is more redundant than LBJ/Jordan.

I'd leave off Magic probably. He's the "worst" scoring threat in the bunch. Jordan/Lebron/Kobe.

Kobe gets cut. He's the slightly-less-rich man's MJ. I also think he and Jordan would butt heads, while LeBron and Magic seem likely to get along with anyone.

You leave off johnson because he is the worst defensive player by far, but I'll take his 5 positions and distribution, as the team would do much better without kobe/mj hero ball.

That's easy.

1. Jordan

2. LeBron

3. Magic

4. Kobe.

Leave Kobe off

I'm leaving off Magic and it's not even close.

MJ, Leron, Kobe.

Kids say the darndest things.

Magic is the quintessential "makes his teammates better" player...better than MJ, LBJ and Kobe easily.

It's MJ, toss up between Magic and LeBron and then a gap, then Kobe.

Yeah, Jordan and Lebron don't make anyone else better.

His statement is that he makes his teammates better, better than those 3. Lebron had much worse talent around him than Magic ever did though, so I'm not sure I agree.

Magic's career was anchored by the NBA's all time leading scorer, plus another Hall of Famer in Worthy. LeBron did have the four years in Miami with Bosh and Wade, but still managed to make finals with teams that literally had no one of historical note. Magic didn't win a title without those guys. He did get to the finals once without Kareem, but still had a prime Worthy.
