Do you realize how atrocious Stephenson has been the last year and a half? And the pick, from what I'm reading, is lottery protected in 2019. In other words, they gave up absolutely nothing and got a nice upgrade at their weakest position.

That might be the best starting 5 in the game.

This is absolutely not hyperbole. I'm pretty sure the Clippers starting 5 had the best point differential in all of basketball last year and they improved that. Their issue was depth.

 

The trade also gives them an interesting lineup of Griffin-Pierce - Green-Redick-Paul lineup against the lineup of death late in games if they want.

Bears are no where close to winning a title. I'd still take the Bulls 3rd, White Sox 4th then the Bears.

On the positive side, Rose played extremely well last night. Lots of energy, good passing. Unfortunately out of the 14 potential assists he had, the Bulls should something like 2-12 or 2-14 on them. This is going to be a good opportunity for Rose and the Bulls to be forced into running more of Hoiberg's system (for better or worse) while Jimmy is out. It will also be interesting to see when Niko comes back. Reality is, MJD is still rounding into form so that will take some time, but this team as currently constructed is a 7 or 8 seed and nothing better (with Noah / Niko / Jimmy out). And that is a struggle at best.

If it were true and even if it was only Gar only saying this, what would it say about Paxson if Joe Cowley knew this was going on and he did not, and what would it say about Paxson that he still employed Gar?

 

I would love if they both were out the door, but I will give them the benefit of doubt on this one. Sabotaging a coach and a season like that seems pretty unlikely to me.

It tells me that for those that believe the Bulls started tuning out Thibs, I'd argue that the front office essentially created an atmosphere for them to tune him out. I don't think it happens without Gar (and potentially Pax) creating a culture where it would be okay (or even appropriate) for the players to disrepect the coach.

 

I'm going to guess there is smoke to this. I'd hope Paxson wasn't part of it, but really there is no defense even if he wasn't a part of it. If you are going to take that sort of stance in the preseason, you should have just got rid of the coach prior (which would have been a mistake and has clearly been proven to be a mistake). I honestly don't understand how JR is continuing to allow this mess. Thibs has to be sitting back and just loving this.

Agree, I don't see how Paxson could allow for something like that to stand. Pax turning a blind eye is just as bad as Pax being a part of it. Unless of course Pax said that is BS and stood up and that isn't being reported. Who knows, all I know is, I'm 100% certain Gar needs to go, and my rope on Pax is extremely short, if not to the point if this is legit, he should too be gone (and I've been long an advocate to keep him and allow him to bring in his own guy).

 

Marks would have been a great hire to come in and replace Gar (with Pax staying in his current role).
