iamshack
I don't know if I just missed this, or had forgotten it, but I did a double-take when they mentioned Billy Beane had come out.
Marky Mark
QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 16, 2015 -> 11:03 AM) I don't know if I just missed this, or had forgotten it, but I did a double-take when they mentioned Billy Beane had come out. Yes, but not the A's GM and former player. Different BB.

This is fantastic for baseball. Hopefully more are to follow.
southsider2k5
I think my crazy prediction this year was that we would see the first openly gay baseball player. I am glad to see this, and hopefully it goes well for him.
knightni
Doing it in Rookie Ball is iffy though. If he was a top prospect in AA or AAA, it might be a more positive impact. Gay male pro athletes need a top guy as an example. Not just borderline guys like Denson, Bean, Burke, Collins, Amaechi, and Sam.
shipps
Right, we need a star baseball player like Kris Bryant to come out and say he was gay. Not that he is gay but if Bryant would admit to being gay then that would be a big deal and further the cause in baseball being that he is a legit prospect. Not that he is gay but Kris Bryant being gay is a game changer not some guy we never heard of before and probably never will after this. flavum
QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 17, 2015 -> 11:56 AM) Doing it in Rookie Ball is iffy though. If he was a top prospect in AA or AAA, it might be a more positive impact. Gay male pro athletes need a top guy as an example. Not just borderline guys like Denson, Bean, Burke, Collins, Amaechi, and Sam. I don't know about that anymore. Things have changed a lot in the last 5-10 years. We have a new generation of young people who I think are a lot more open to this. It's almost shrugworthy at this point, which is good.
