Soxfest
QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Aug 17, 2015 -> 11:41 PM) Tyler Flowers ruined the night. He left 5 guys on base himself... Let that sink in for a minute. He leaves guys on every night yet he has to play do not get it at all. Edited August 18, 2015 by Soxfest

caulfield12
Hitting Trout is idiotic...then they'll just come after Abreu, and what's the point of that? Getting baseball's franchise player (along with Harper) injured or preventing him from appearing in the post-season?

greg775
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 18, 2015 -> 05:37 AM) Saladino's swing is awful. Way too long He's not a MLB caliber hitter. Great defender. Utility guy unfortunately. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 18, 2015 -> 05:40 AM) Inexcusable managing by Ventura. He's one of the worst managers in baseball, way worse than Ozzie. But hey managers don't matter. So don't worry bout it. He doesn't mouth off to the press which is what everybody wanted. He's keeping Sox off the front pages quite well. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Aug 18, 2015 -> 05:41 AM) Tyler Flowers ruined the night. He left 5 guys on base himself... Let that sink in for a minute. That was ball four with the bases loaded. Sure he should have swung but it was ball four. The entire lineup and its approach sucked. Too many weak pop ups to center off that soft tossing lefty. CaliSoxFanViaSWside
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 17, 2015 -> 09:38 PM) With Avi being DH, he probably just made the straight platoon switch But why is the question. Served no purpose since Avi is decent against righties . Better than LaRoche against righties for average. Maybe was hoping for a walk ? IDK then even if he walks he can't use Shuck or Sanchez to pinch run because they are the lefties left on the bench to PH . Just don't take one of your only chances for a game tying HR out of the line up. If people get on base then use LaRoche if you need to PH for Flowers or Beckham. Would be nice to see Danks hit their leadoff hitter tomorrow just to set a tone. Actually Rodon was so much in command he probably could have hit a guy tonight to get it out of the way. A benchclearing brawl would be OK for this team. Suspensions won't matter. Danks may be due for a bad outing anyway if he gets ejected after hitting the leadoff hitter. RH hitters are hitting .176 with a .407 OPS vs. Joe Smith. LH hitters have fared a lot better.

RH hitters are hitting .176 with a .407 OPS vs. Joe Smith. LH hitters have fared a lot better. But it was still LaRoche leading off with no one on base, so no speed at all which is essential to scoring a run . Also he could 've been used in the 9th against Street or later in the 8th if any one got on. Like it or not Avi is still one of the teams better hitters and fastest runner ,and with Saladino, Beckham, Flowers all RH hitters due up there would've been plenty of chances to use LaRoche with far worse hitters than Avi up. I know this is sarcasm but I believe he's top 5 in baseball in pitch framing. It's a big deal. Pitchers also like throwing to him. Rodon has been great with Flowers behind the dish. I would expect that Flowers will be on the Sox for years to come. They just need to get a better starting catcher and let TFlow catch Sale and Rodon.
