Balta1701
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 20, 2015 -> 04:39 PM) Of course I do. But I realize it's not going to ever happen. Then you never have the right to say "Your value of yourself is inflated." to anyone and mean it in a negative context as you just did with Kenny Williams. southsider2k5
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 20, 2015 -> 02:35 PM) Robin should buy some books and learn how to teach fundamentals in spring training, then. Kenny sounds like the worst executive a team can have. Please leave, Kenny. Go to Hollywood and be a model or something. Your value of yourself is inflated. You mean the kind who quits on a team because he doesn't get his way?
shipps
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 20, 2015 -> 03:39 PM) Which is why Hoiberg should have stayed at Iowa State. caulfield12
If nothing else, you would think this current Cubs' run with a more dynamic manager would cause someone at 35th and Shields to stand up and take notice. Keeping Ventura around (and it can't be just through 2016 or he's a lame duck again) is just doubling down on the insanity to prove what, exactly...? That KW anf Hahn did such a atrocious job for so long bringing in talent that the manager bears next to zero extent of the blame since managers have no motivational role, nor is it their business to improve the fundamentals of the flawed players the front office provides them with... caulfield12
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 20, 2015 -> 07:23 PM) Apparently the Indians' president is emerging as a frontrunner for the Jays Would be highly ironic if Shapiro beat KW twice, first for Executive of the Year in 2005 (which, if you included the post-season, should have gone to Williams)...now here again. Still, with AA's star back on the rise (and he basically sold out a lot of the team's future to win now)...hard to imagine they'd also be bringing in a "big name" Executive/President/CEO and put him over AA. I guess it depends largely on how the season ends and the eventual playoff fate of the Jays.
Lip Man 1
Rick Hahn tonight also issued a statement saying how everyone was "disappointed" with the way the season had gone but that any changes to the front office, coaching staff or players would be announced after the year was over. greg775
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 21, 2015 -> 01:35 AM) But nah, Greg just has an irrational dislike of Rose because he suffered two major injuries and earns a lot of money that he got for being the youngest MVP ever. I actually meant Rose is the kind of guy who'll get a coach fired BECAUSE he's not good enough to carry a team to a crown. He's no LeBron, Kobe, Durant, etc. So the front office will inevitably blame the coach cause D Rose isn't good enough to do it. He's gonna need a helluva lot of Pippens around him. Meanwhile at ISU he's god forever!!! He'd be able to sign so many 10 year contracts and extensions and make so much $$$ and be loved forever in Ames if he just stayed. I wasn't referring to Rose's personality or injuries, but his ability. Edited August 21, 2015 by greg775

Southwest Sider
If its true that KW and the sox would part ways this offseason, id be really excited about promoting hahn to KWs position and bringing in cherington as the GM. They both seem to have a similar philsophy in regards to building the farm. I feel that cheringtons philosophy maybe clashed with the upper management of boston. Perhaps his bosses were the people who needed to sign panda and hanley. Nonetheless, i would be extremely disappointed if the sox missed out on a guy like this because they wanted to wait til the offseason. Like it or not executive moves are happening now, dont be stubborn about waiting til fhe offseason please. The fact that DD already has a new job should give the sox the urgency they need to bring in a guy like cherington NOW before someone else gets him. LDF
if and i do mean if KW leaves for what ever reasons, i was just thinking. while cherington is enticing.... i keep looking at the signing of Panda and imo what a mistake that was. here is some names i have been looking and compiling for the past several weeks. i am looking at the young, candidates with a huge knowledge of the new advance stats background. here is my list in priority #1 John Coppolella - asst to the braves gm. is a really great knowledge of both the advance stats and believe in a in depth, modern advance scouting department. #2. Michael Girsch - runs the stl advance baseball development. i was reading on the hou computer break in.... but what got me was what the cardinals believe in, data management and analytics efforts using advance physical with baseball metric stats to help in the development of the prospects. there are several bos and yanks candidates but i pick this one up as a rising front office young turks. #3. Chris Pittaro - top asst to Billy Beane, oak. has been the top right hand man for billy beane for the last 3 - 4 yrs. was instrumental for most of the key moves oak has made during this time and some time before. here is also a unknown idea..... hou has been assembling a nice good looking team with a huge minor league systems..... i would look that area as well.
