For me it's Navarro in a runaway. He actually once complained about run support after a game he allowed 9 earned.

One guy who is up there at least if you are talking home fans, Claudell Washington. Opposing fans, Albert Belle can hang with AJ, but it was only 2 years. Other than that, nothing since I have been following is even close.

Absolutely.

Hated by whom? Other teams? Okay, maybe AJ.

But by Sox fans? Not even close.

And I'm with Dick - Navarro.

I remember the banner in the outfield, "Washington slept here..."

Navarro was pretty disliked and let's not forget Adam Dunn after he publicly told the media that he rarely worked out in the off season (this after having perhaps the worst season statistically in MLB in almost 100 years.)

A.J. was loved by Sox fans for his spirit and the fact that he was a damn fine catcher. Article is obviously written by someone who knows very little about the Sox.

Navarro and Dunn would be pretty high up there. Dunn for his performance (combined with his contract) vs. attitude. Navarro for combination of the two. Albert Belle and AJ are the two that make the list if you are looking from opposition perspective (AJ winning).

2 of the biggest dick i have seen on the sox, 1 i witness his "get lost kid" when the youngster wanted a autograph. that was Belle. the other is Royce Clayton, the same one when in spring training no one wanted to sit with him at a table.

Making matters even more galling for Sox fans about Wells and Swisher was the fact that as soon as they left the team they started putting up good numbers again.

Remember the time Clayton showed up dressed for a game in tennis shoes? Wouldn't put on his spikes??? LOL. Jerry Manuel blew a gasket over that one.

Clayton, Rios and Swisher would be right up there.

Dunn and LaRoche are right there as well for me. Of course Navarro like many said. Ron Blomberg was a big bust.

Being a bust as a player though is different from being hated.

And I was told a story about Swisher from one of the beat writers. In the second half of 2008 after the Sox got Griffey, he tried to help Swisher who was in a bad slump by offering some hitting tips. Swisher literally blew him off I was told and just ignored him.
