This is why the Sox pretty much have to start over in terms of putting a team on the field every day. The pitching is fine. It's wildcard worthy.

But the hitting is so bad that no way this team will contend for a wild card next year without a total overhaul. Can Hahn pull it off?

No s***. Field a good team for f***ing once. Jeez

Good business would have been to have somebody go through the crowd with box seats in hand and give out some free tickets for a game in mid September. This team is one of the worst hitting teams in modern Sox history. I said "modern."

Saladino looks like a utility player

I agree. And there's nothing wrong with that, he'd be a solid guy playing once or twice a week and used as a late inning defensive replacement. Teams need a guy or two like that absolutely.

Oh yes they can.

Therein lies the dilemma with a struggling veteran. Especially one signed to another season. You risk irritating the player and disrespecting what he has accomplished by not giving him time to hit out of his slump. Even if it means unfavorable matchups, pathetic bunt attenpts, and losses as a result, Ventura is going to keep doing it because he'd never have the balls otherwise.

True, he's valuable in a limited role as a defensive replacement. We're unfortunate to have produced yet another Utility IF, when we need players capable of contributing everyday offensively

19th time this year the Sox allowed three runs or less in a game...and lost.

9th time team has been shutout.

Have played 127 games, have scored three runs or less in 66 of them. 52% overall.

Ugh being a sox fan sucks right now. Just keep losing. Sorry to piss off a lot here with that but it's best thing for us.

while it is for the best or not, this team does not have the little, what ever you call it, but the killer instinct to start and finish a game, a season.

It ALL starts with the little things. This team doesn't do them right. Might not show tonight but thus team just sucks every way you slice it. The lineup sucks. 2-0 shutout is pathetic. This team has no life.

As for Trayce, I get WHY Robin is doing it, but what cases are there out there that protecting a young hitter makes them become what they should be?

Devil's advocate ... they'll just draft a great college pitcher. Do you have the confidence they'll make the right trades of pitchers for everyday stars? We can't win with great pitching alone and there's no doubt the sox will take another great pitcher. Big deal. We have great pitching now and horrific everyday hitters.

That's why I'm hoping KW leaves and Robin is canned. I'm ok with Hahn so far. He's made mistakes in FA but has brought some under the radar talent like Montas.
