:cheers Really liked that 2000 team and had high hopes for the future.

Favorite moments?

The brawl against Detroit that seemed to light a fire...

Monday June 12th - Sunday June 18th....seven glorious days in which we went on the road and swept the Indians and the Yankees, the best teams in the AL. Swept them. In their house.

Favorite players?

Besides the obvious HOFer, I'd have to go with Herbert. Dude was clutch.

Yours?

ps anyone remember that guy who used to hold up a sign at the start of home games, said like "stand up" or something?

I remember both Curt Schilling and Mike Mussina saying they would not play for the White Sox after reports came out the Sox had interest due to their pitching falling apart via injuries in the second half of the season.

I also remember Ron Schueler despite a desperate need for pitching going out and bringing back Harold Baines and Charles Johnson at the trade deadline.

By the playoffs the pitching staff was being held together by duct tape and the results were predicatble.

Such a sad end to what could have been a great season. But typical White Sox luck.

In the playoffs, the bats went silent. I doubt Mussina or Schilling make a difference. Charles Johnson was pretty awesome as a White Sox. Big Hurt and Paulie .000 in the playoffs. .182 for Maggs.

They scored four runs in the first game. That would be enough for a pitcher of the caliber of a Schilling or Mussina to win with.

Win Game #1 and everything changes potentially doesn't it?

Yes the hitting went south but even Jerry Manuel said that off season, that if the Sox somehow won that series they basically had no one left for the next round due to the injuries suffered by Sirotka and Parque to go on top of the injuries to Baldwin (who missed a month and was pitching on guts) and of course the season ending injury to Cal Eldred.

The Sox needed pitching far more than hitting at the trade deadline but that's not what Schueler did.
