I think Quintana + can get Arenado.

Absolutely. Arenado is 24, put 4.5 fWAR and had a wRc of 119. He has 3 arb years left. He's a stud but he will not re-sign with Colorado and Q is also a stud on a great contract.

Could Nobuhiro Matsuda be an option at 3B? He's already 32 but has put up nice numbers in Japan.

Here's one of his homers:

Very interesting. You'd have to think a 32 year old who hasn't played outside Japan would come very cheap. Would love to explore that.

Also he does not require a posting fee. So even cheaper.

Quintana would instantly become their #1, plus I'm sure Sox would add some top prospects to go along with it.

They aren't exactly going anywhere with that pitching staff.

But they create a hole as big as the one they fill. I'm sure they want Quintana, but they're going to want to trade prospects, not other stars they already need.

Why would the Sox add top prospects? Arenado is the kind of guy I'd trade Q for. I'm not adding top prospects though.

i am not decided on that, how old is laroche last yr???

maybe a 1 yr with options for 2yr.

the sox needs to get some pieces via fa.

they have to in order to compete esp for the media in chi. granted they will never over come the other team, but they can not fall too far behind.

They also have a 3B waiting in the wings. McMahon at AA IIRC.

The Rockies aren't going to trade Arenado unless you dramatically overpay. Can we stop the madness? It isn't happening.

He's probably the new face of the franchise.

killjoy.

but with ref to McMahon their other 3b prospect. if anything they would trade him instead.

You're speaking to deaf ears my man. Some just will not let go of the Xbox fantasy.

This is entirely dependent on whether or not the Rockies think they are are in their championship window right now, or in a couple years. They just traded Tulo, Reyes is under a lot of fire with the law right now, they have been rumored to be trading Cargo for a while now. If they aren't ready to win now, then they may as well dump their biggest asset for a #1 starter if they have a guy to replace that asset in 2 years anyway. Not that McMahon will be as good as Arenado, but they Q is under team control longer than Arenado, and will be cheaper than Arenado once Nolan hits arb. And Q in the NL would likely improve his value in the event they decide to trade him again in 2 or 3 years anyway. I don't necessarily think this trade lines up perfectly, but I can see the rationale behind the Rockies doing it. If you think this is a video game trade, then it's clearly because you undervalue Quintana immensely. He's a top 15-20 starter.

It's something to banter about. I can dream can't I? Let a sleeping dog lie.

Jesus overpaid Christ that's a lot for Lucroy no thanks!

I was about to make a rebuttal... but then I saw Lucroy's 2015 stats.

His 700+ OPs despite playing injured most all season? His projections for 2016 are .279/.343/.435 and he costs $5 MM next season. He isn't going to be had for a song.

Lucroy is a great player, but that is pretty much cleaning out our farm. I wouldn't do it.

Maybe Adams, Danish, and Montas. Keep Trey. Keep Fulmer.
