Great posts by so many of you. No way Arenado is gonna get traded unless we offer Sale like somebody said. They won't trade him. I have no idea how Hahn fixes this mess except to for sure get rid of Melky, LaRoche, Duke, Petricka, let Lexi go and trade Avi as well. Also release Soto and Flowers or make Flowers backup catcher about 50 games.

It's up to Hahn to figure out how to promote those minor leaguers worth a damn and totally revamp the team by dumping horrible players and acquiring younger free agents.

Melky, Duke, Petricka and Alexei are not horrible players.

White Sox owner Jerry Reinsdorf wants answers, writes @MLBBruceLevine: http://cbsloc.al/1Nh8Rq6

Yaaaaaaaa, Hahn and Williams have no idea what the plan is. That is plainly apparent.

Melky is useless right now. No power; not enough RBI potential. Duke is done (I think that's pretty apparent; maybe a specialist who can come in and get one lefty out). Petricka is worse than Duke. Alexei is one of the reason this team reeked and was out of contention for .500 so soon in the season.

I remember raBBit saying before the deadline that KW and Hahn had different ideas on what direction the team should take, or something along those lines ( sorry if I remember incorrectly raBBit). I think there's something to be said about that and could be why JR is going to get more involved. Imo, Hahn is more in tune with the modern Baseball era and is inhibited by his immediate boss, KW.

FYI. Melky is hitting .325/.377/.483 with runners in scoring position. The power isn't there, no, but having a guy hitting like that w/RISP is exactly what the team needs more of.

It's not always a bad thing if you have different opinions in the front office because having multiple perspectives can be a good thing, but I just feel like KW is too stubborn for this to work well for us.

Signing Zobrist to be our starting 3B would not be a smart move. He'll be 35, he's declining, and when's the last time a signing of a 35+ year old for us hit over .250 in his first season?

2015 wRC+

Jose Abreu 135

Ben Zobrist 131

Adam Eaton 112 (Sox 2nd best hitter this year)

Sox 3rd basmen 65 (approx.)

I know how he's doing in 2015. Remember how Adam LaRoche did in 2014?

And you didn't answer my question. Maybe he'll go to the Yankees and do great. But if he comes here, I don't see him doing well.

This is correct.

KW signed Melky Cabrera on his own. Supposedly Hahn thought they could have gotten similar production for a lesser price.

KW wanted to stand pat in the middle of July to hold out for a last run, Hahn wanted to trade Samardzija in early-mid July. KW decided to wait.

Is this from some article? Or is this more insider-isn knowledge?

He's actually having his best season in 3 years....and he's always played in the AL.

So it's the actual jersey that affects players hitting is your theory? The players play great for all the other teams but my favorite team is CURSED just to punish only me?!?

No. I'm just saying that in recent history, us signing old hitters has not gone well.

Thanks for clarifying raBBit. I was thinking it was something to do with Hahn and KW being split on what to do with Samardzija but was not sure.

KW signing Cabrera sounds exactly like KW. I'm not knocking it as I was a fan of signing Cabrera but there's definitely a KW feel to it.

This is what I do not understand. A GM's job is to be in charge of personnel moves but how can a GM truely be a GM if he has a non-owner for a boss that can trump him. To me it kind of take the Manager aspect out of the GM role. Is this exclusively with the Sox FO or do you think more teams have the same thing going on?

To add, his best defensive metrics have come at 3B and RF this season, two positions the White Sox could drastically upgrade

I think if you look at most every team you'll find instances of the same thing.

With the specific case of Zobrist, he still hasn't seen his production start to fall and he's head and shoulders above the free agent 3rd basemen as a hitter for his career and for this year. Even if he starts to regress next year he'll still be better than anything we've had since the 1/2 season of Youkilis (an old guy who we acquired who hit quite well for us).

Hahn was correct on both accounts.

This info is actually reassuring and affirms what I though - KW was all over this.
