LDF
QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Nov 2, 2015 -> 04:32 PM) If Desmond really gets somewhere in the 15M+ range annually, Alexei's 10M doesn't sound so bad at all. Especially since the Sox have more pressing needs than SS. in actuality, i wouldn't put it past his camp if Desmond gets that QO, he might accept it. caulfield12
The Cubs will likely get one of those pitchers (top five free agent pitchers). Less likely, they might trade one of their good young players (Javier Baez?) in a package for a top starting pitcher. It will be interesting to see if the Chicago White Sox even consider trading Chris Sale, or if the Oakland A's will listen to offers for Sonny Gray. Bigsoxhurt35
Sale wouldn't even be talked about it unless it started with a Bryant type starting package. His value is sky high. I do wonder what you could get. Interesting nonetheless.

greg775
Wouldn't it be cool if Mr. Hahn altered about 70 percent of the entire Sox 2016 roster? 1B-Abreu. 2B-Zobrist. SS-new guy 3B - new guy LF - new guy CF - Eaton RF - new guy to platoon with Trayce. C - new guy P - Sale, Q, Rodon, new guy new guy. Bullpen - Robertson, new guy times nine. DH - new guy. Please give us a new ballclub, Mr. Hahn even if it has to be very young. p.s. Little surprised to see The Grandy Man is halfway thru a four-year deal that pays him 15 million a year. That's a lot of cash for the aging Grandyman, though I've always wanted him in a Sox uniform. We can't afford that so no reason for me to dream of a deal involving Grandy for Danks and Beckham and a Class A non-prospect prospect. GreenSox
The real problem with the Cubs/Sox trade proposals is that the Cubs don't have what the Sox need. Sox need an athletic defensive outfielder, young C and 3B. The Cubs have none of the above to trade. Oh sure the Sox could use a DH. But in this day and age, you need one who has a position. And the Cubs aren't trading Schwarber anyway.

caulfield12
http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/eye-on-baseball/25361575 First of many articles predicting the offseason. Puig has 7-8 teams listed as trade possibilities and not one of them is the Sox. Btw, signing Granderson two tears ago when his splits were so pronounced and Yankee Stadium short porch aided seemed a bit nuts...felt like he was on a big decline. That said, the current numbers are coming from the relatively weaker NL. Cueto is projected at $40 million and one year less than when he was traded to KC. Royals predicted to keep Gordon but not Zobrist as well. Edited November 3, 2015 by caulfield12

He has power, but he's essentially Dayan Viciedo 2.0 that plays the infield.
caulfield12
Quintana/Adams for....the steal deal of the century (love those 4-6 for 1-2 plans they come up with) mlbtraderumors Cubs get a solid pitcher in quintana and a potential stud in spencer who has a ways to go before making his MLB debut seeing as he’s only like 19 years old (at LEAST 2 years away…. more likely 3-4). Sox get the young position prospects they DESPERATELY need. They get a better SS in Castro over having to keep worse Alexei Ramirez…. regardless what Sox fans say. Castro’s down year this year is not too far off a typical Ramirez year. They also get a HR masher in Vogelbach who has superb plate discipline to play 1B/DH with Abreu. They get a solid hitting catching prospect in Zagunis. They get a gold glove in waiting in Almora who scouts say could hit about .280 or better and develop into a 20 HR hitter…… especially playing in US Cellular. And I’ll throw in pierce johnson as a toss in. Projects to be a 3-4 starter if he pans out. Cough up 1 ML pitcher and a pitching prospect for 4 players who could address almost all the Sox weaknesses on offense within 2 years. It at least gives you positional prospect hope. Looked at the top position prospects the Sox have listed on their website……. it’s pretty ugly. This hypothetical trade is more than fair imo. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/10/offs...hite-sox-6.html

If you trade him, which I think they should, you need to get back 2 MLB ready players + prospect(s). At least one of the MLB ready players needs to play a premier position--C-SS-CF or be a top 20 player in baseball.
