southsider2k5
Dan Hayes @CSNHayes 3m3 minutes ago Frankie Montas has worked with reduced FB velocity to better command it in the majors. #WhiteSox are impressed. http://bit.ly/1OqgoV8
Dick Allen
He was throwing 100 the other night. I was impressed.

I guess it's reduced speed for control and effectiveness and 100MP to blow them away when needed???!!
NorthSideSox72
They've been telling him this for a few years. Sometimes he does it, sometimes he doesn't. His fastball and slider both do better when he doesn't over-throw, and he has better command with them too. Its a question of whether or not he sticks with the gameplan consistently. Learning how to do this also has been a multi-year project for the other recent starters who've hit triple digits (Verlander, Scherzer). Dick Allen
The other night he was throwing 97-98, got to 100 a few times, and froze a couple of guys with his slider. Make him a starter, but if that fails, this guy should be really good coming out of the bullpen.

To me, he has a very high floor right now (in terms of making majors), so, he's great trade bait, and also a great asset to build a cheap bullpen. YouCanPutItOnTheBoardYES!
Montas reminds me of Yordano Ventura in a way. I just hope he's not as much of a prick and a tool as Ventura is.
bjm676
Montas may start the game Wed afternoon. Sale pushed to Thursday Dan HayesVerified account @CSNHayes Sep 20 #WhiteSox switched Weds from Chris Sale to TBA. If they get through Mon. DHer OK could be Frankie Montas. Would like to get Sale extra day.
reiks12
With him, Rodon, and Fulmer in the shadows how can anybody NOT be excited with our rotation for years to come? Hopefully EJ can continue to do well too.

Hopefully EJ can continue to do well too. Plus Sale and Q are still pretty young and in their primes. If only this team could learn how to hit. :/

Dick Allen
Hopefully, Allen Thomas gets him on some sort of diet. If he was 185 when he signed, if something doesn't change, he is going to make Bartolo Colon look slim in a few years.
